When: August 2, 7:30 PM Where: Robertson Stadium, Houston, TX Television: Fox Soccer Channel Radio: 790 AM (English), 850 AM (Spanish) The Dynamo return to MLS play after reaching the SuperLiga Final by beating Pachuca last week. The Columbus Crew (9-5-4, 31 points) come to town as the second best team in the Eastern Conference and all of MLS. The Dynamo (5-4-8, 23 points) are 4 points behind Real Salt Lake for first place in the Western Conference, so this is a big game for both teams. We've been hot recently and Nate Jaqua and Corey Ashe have been playing very well. I'm interested in seeing Kei Kamara get some time tomorrow. In SuperLiga news, the New England Revolution defeated Atlante 1-0, so we'll be traveling to Foxboro to face the Revs for the SuperLiga crown. More on that to come, though.
Am curious about the 1 million if we beat the Revs. Is it paid out to the players like a winners share at the Super Bowl. I am thinking that would be a pretty nice bonus with MLS salaries not being that huge (Beckham excepted).
http://www.boston.com/sports/soccer/articles/2008/07/20/players_mls_split_on_money/ The Dynamo players had supposedly negotiated with the team to get half of the prize money but the league stepped in and said they wouldn't allow it. Sucks for the players, hopefully their arbitration works out for them and they can get the money.
