Dwight Howard's physical abilities rival any big man who has ever played in the NBA. He is just SICK.

But comparing him to Hakeem is just silly.

If you think Shawn Kemp was better than Amare, you are totally clueless and I'm sorry you have fell victim to the revisionist history hype machine that paints Kemp out to be some all-world great to juxtapose against his tragic decline into a Goodyear blimp. Shawn Kemp is one of the most overrated players in NBA history. His highest scoring average was 20 per and he regularly hovered around 18. He had very poor range (didn't even add a jumpshot to his arsenal until '96), weak handles, a lousy postup game, and was an average rebounder. Don't get me wrong, he was definitely All-Star caliber but that was more for his physical and defensive prowess and entertaining, reckless playing style attacking the rim.

Amare, before the injury in avging 35 per against Duncan was on his way to becoming maybe the best EVER at that position.

I'm pretty sure the purpose of this thread was to bash younger NBA fans that naively proclaim hot player of the moment (Wade, Howard, Amare, etc) to be greater than NBA legends (Jordan, etc) when they're far from.

Dream/Dwight wasn't a sincere comparison, just a shocking title to make his point.

At least, I hope that's what was going on. Just goes to show that sarcasm and irony don't tend to translate online.

I tend to agree. Kemp was one of the 50 greatest Sportscenter members of all-time, not quite as amazing as a player. He and Webber define hype over substance.

I think the lesson here is

    CF.net > ESPN boards

Why he needed to track mud into the CF house after playing in the ESPN boards is beyond me.
