Dwight Howard > Ming?

Come on man this was a preseason game where Yao only played 13 minutes. Let see what happens when the games count. Yao will dominate Dwight Howard.

 

They are Florida paper. What do you expect them to say after a win over the Rockets?

 

Stupid Title? This is a Rockets board. You must be looking to get flamed. Howard is good and may even be the second best center in the league but there is no question Yao is better. Again Stupid Title.

 

Howard had a good first quarter, but he came alive for the most part after Yao went out. Yao scored 13 in the 14 minutes he played, so I wouldn't say he got dominated by any means. I think we've already established the fact that the Orlando writers are hacks.

Yao averaged 23 per game in his two games last season vs Orlando compared to 9.5 for Howard.

 

This guy needs to get fired. It's one thing to be biased but down right ugly is not a place for sports writing.

Shows that Orlando fans have no class, at least detroit fans had the balls to brawl.

 

To Howard's supporters' defense, it's universally acknowledged Howard has improved tremendously since then. There is a reason why he was selected into the US national team for the 2006 WC.

 

This is freaking lame! Even just based on one single preseason game, Yao got 13 pts 4 rbs before he out out the court and Howard got 8 pts and 6 rbs. Besides, when Yao started to wake up he got 11 pts in second quarter and totally OWNED Howard.

I guess this kind of mentality got Ben W on top of Yao every time. Ok, you have 2 more rbs, so what? Does that outshined Yao's 6+ more points?

The kid can play. He's young, athletic, and learning fast. There is no question he'll be one of Yao's chief competitors in years to come.

That said, this thread is ill-suited for GARM, which is about Rockets' players. I don't even want to touch on the stupid title.

 

Dwight Howard is a poor man's Amare'. And Amare' is the next Shawn Kemp. Therefore, Yao Ming owns Dwight Howard all day, all night.

I didn't bother reading the articles, but anyone who thinks Howard is currently as good as Yao is just dumb and caught in the moment of a worthless preseason game. Howard is just too raw on offense right now. He doesn't seem to have a natural touch with the ball yet. But he's only 20 years old.

That said, Dwight Howard reminds me a lot of 3-time MVP and former Rocket Moses Malone. This kid has greatness written all over him. To step into the NBA and average a double-double as an 18 year old rookie was amazing. I can easily see him averaging ~25pts/18reb in 3-4 years if he develops some touch with the ball.

Like Yao & LeBron, Howard was a worthy #1 pick in the draft. Almost by himself he makes the Magic an exciting team to watch this year. But he ain't Yao, yet. In 3-4 years, I expect him to be the best center in the NBA.

 

I know right, plus McGrady flourishes under the hate, he has some motivation. That's why he's the best road player in the NBA.

 

Only if Yao does not improve himself or goes downhilll. That is to say, no very likely. Maybe 5 - 6 years which is still very good.
