    Hi guys,

My DVD player now gets an error trying to read any CD or DVD I put in.. any ideas on how to fix this? I'm hoping there's an easy fix to this..

Describing the error might help, as well as the events leading up the error.

    well -

I put in the DVD and turn on the player, etc. I think it tries to read the disc for a while, but can't read it so the screen gives me "error" as the message. I've tried this with both a CD and DVD.

I don't think I did anything unusual to the player before this --- probably I paused a DVD I was watching for maybe half an hour but that was it..

    This is what I have:

Is either the CD or DVD a burned one?

I have a Sony DVD/CD player and it doesn't play burned CDs or DVDs.

no, it's just a regular CD. I can't even play DVDs. I opened it and it seems like the laser is not catching on to the disc.. what sucks is, I just bought this thing maybe six months ago to watch videotapes of rockets games that my dad sends from houston.. and didn't even bother to get a warranty.. oh well... I guess I'll just find a cheap one on ebay or something..

    thanks,

    Josh

Sounds like a dirty dvd lens. Plenty of cleaners you can buy at most electronic retail stores.
