How many hours are you burning to the DVD?

How did you acquire the "tv show dvd's" ... are you making a copy from one-to-blank... did you download rips.... did you download a movie file and add them to a dvd....

What do you mean by "skipping"? Skipping through scenes... Fragmented picture and audio...?

What level of compression are you using?

Is it "skipping" in a set-top dvd player and your computer or just one or...?

You change it by not burning as much to DVD. The more you "shrink" to fit on a DVD, the more of a problem you will have with jerkiness, viewability, synchronizing audio/video, etc. For the best quality, you should not shrink things and put around 2 hours on a single DVD.
