Gerald Green: 39 inch max vertical Rudy Fernandez: 36 inch max vertical Russell Westbrook: 37 inch max vertical Joe Alexander: 39 inch max vertical So when you say 'They definitely don't have the ups like Gerald Green or anything' what you mean is that it's pretty darn close, but Rudy and Russell are just short, while Joe Alexander has the 'same ups' (Alexander has an inch more on the standing vertical than Green). For what it's worth, Nate Robinson has a 43.5 inch vertical
Usually I'm excited about the dunk contest but not this year. For one because Nate Robinson, he shouldn't be in it this year or ever again. Dwight had to comeback because he's the champ but I wasn't really impressed with him neither. His Superman dunk wasn't even a real dunk. Rudy Gay was a letdown last year when he was in it. I'll watch and hope I am wrong. Rudy will most likely be the 4th guy voted in.
Voted for Rudy. When they were discussing successful dunks last year, and talking about how the 10s need to be hyped up beforehand and all that, I couldnt help but remember the old Wilkins and Jordan battle in chicago, and how all they did was dunk. No props or dancing or anything, just some sick dunking. I'll give props that the sticker dunk 2 years ago was tight but whatever. Imagine if Nate Robinson would hit that double between the legs 3 years ago, hed be a legend.
I was going to vote Rudy becasue I love Rudy's game. But After seeing Joe Alexanders promotional video I have to say I want him to do. I think he has a really good chance of winning also It is his childhood dream to be in the contest so it seems that it would mean alot to him.
If the Bucks have 9 foot rims in their facilities, they should be suspended of their professional license.
The Sticker Dunk was the most creative thing I've seen...especially with his own face picture and a goofy smile. The Sumperman Dunk over-hype never would have happened not for the Sticker Dunk. The judges were so stupid for screwing him on that.
Joe Alexander's dunks are lame. He's neither a power or graceful dunker. He's just a regular Joe with some hops. He may have close to a 40 inch vertical but damn he sure does come down fast once he gets up. Give me some Vince Carter or Jason Richardson. One time.
The problem with that sticker dunk is it wasn't good until they showed the replay. When he originally did it I thought it was whack wow he smacked the backboard but then when they showed the replay it made it more impressive. I hate those type of dunks.
I stand corrected. He has to be the least impressive dunker I have ever seen for someone with such a high vertical leap. It's hard to explain but for someone who seems to be able to do most of Vince Carter's dunks he looks more like Boki Nachbar doing them. His in game dunks look like he only uses about 28 inches of that 39 inch vertical leap. I think what we have here is someone who is a decent NBA level athlete who has maximized his potential when it comes to his vertical leap and endurance. By no means does he appear to be an elite all-around NBA athlete to me. For example, I noticed his draft report says he has poor lateral movement. Remember, Keith Van Horn came out of college with a 39in vertical leap and even in his 20s he wasn't considered elite by NBA standards. Hell, Brent Barry won the dunk contest and even before he got old he wasn't very athletic. Good luck to this guy but if he is in the dunk contest he is going to get embarrassed.
I hope Joe Alexander gets the chance to show you doubters how wrong you are And yeah, Nate Robinson should never appear in another dunk contest. It was already a disgrace that he stole Iggy's title, we don't want his 20+ attempt act again. I'd love to see Iggy in the contest again though.
