Should there be a big incentive for the NBA Slam Dunk Contest because its becoming so unimportant that I feel they dont even need a sponsor. I know that all the Super-Stars wont enter the contest, but is it too much to ask to get the past winners in the competition.

I'll give 20 cents if they'll stop doing it all together. ;)

It should be a fan vote, then they will feel more obligated.

I know Lebron said he'll never do it, but he's still who I'd like to see.

All they have to do to bring back the dunk contest is for all the shoe companies to get together and pony up $1 mill for a winner take all contest. Even the richest NBA players wouldn't scoff at a cool million. That's still a lot of money for one nights work.

Or if they want to get some better P.R., they'll split it so 500K goes to the player, and the other half goes to a charity in his name. So the guy still gets a tax break and looks more generous.

Yeah, something like money or maybe vying for a brand new home for a needy person or a relative would look good for the whole NBA CARES promotion.

yeah but you could say the same things about wade and fred jones.
also, we haven't seen lebron in a dunk contest since high school.

i don't think he'd beat out vince, j-rich or kobe, etc. but i imagine that lebron would come up with some creative dunks if he prepared.
