I will admit....I played D & D a few times when I was 7 or 8. It was all text-based. We had little figures we used to paint like dragons and sorcerers and such . I quickly grew out of that, however. I'm not a D & D nerd!!! Honest! But, anyway...the CNN review went as far as to call this movie the worst movie of 2000. Go on over there to read it yourself if you like. Surf ------------------
RocketRiver: Lynus why was dragonheart an insult? Fantasy readers tend to be very picky. Actual D&D fanatics aren more so. I am among the former of those two. DragonHeart was just so stupid. Watching all these people kill off all of the dragons was just ludicrous. Take what we know of dragons according to (most) fantasy novels and D&D: These are huge, fire-breathing, magic-using, more-or-less immortal creatures of immense power.....and they were run off and killed by normal peasants. Not powerful magic-users, legions of valiant knights, or another dragon, but peasants. That scene where a flying dragon was running away from Dennis Quaid on horseback armed with a frickin bow and arrow was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. Fair enough, dragons don't exist, so anyone can put anything they want about them in any movie or novel they want. BUT A DAMN DRAGON RUNNING (FLYING) AWAY FROM DENNIS QUAID ON A HORSE WITH A BOW AND ARROW?!!!???!?!?!?! And then Dennis returns victorious a few seconds later. Right. Not to mention all of the sappy moments exchanged between Dennis and that Connery-voiced dinosaur with wings. I kept waiting for them to kiss each other. Make any movies you want. Just don't try to put over crap like this on the fantasy crowd as a "fantasy movie." ------------------ Hey, I've got a new signature! 302 [This message has been edited by Lynus302 (edited December 09, 2000).]
