See that look he had on the bench? I'll tell you what he was thinking: "I can't believe I left T-Mac or Hill to play with D-Rob..." ------------------
HAHA! I was thinking the SAME thing! I think he saw that championship ring and said "Yeah, lets do it!" Yeah, lets do it indeed. . . ------------------ See the three, be the three.
I think you guys are being a little harsh. I hate SA, but the Spurs had the best record in the league.... Nah, go ahead. BWHAHAHAHAHAHA ------------------
A team with Duncan, McGrady, and Hill still couldn't have beaten the Lakers team that played tonight or the first 3 games. I hate the Lakers, but I have to give them credit, they are playing like such a well-oiled machine right now, every game seems like a foregone conclusion. ------------------ "I'm just a poster, and I want a piece of everyone's ass." HeyPartner And the truth shall set you free...
Damn I actually agree with a Bulls fan. Anyways so much for that stupid theory of last year, the one where the Lakers only one because Ducan was injured. Ummm....yeah. What the hell is the excuse this year? Derek Anderson is injured? ------------------
I bet Duncan was thinking more along the lines of "Damn this series would have been different if Derek Anderson was healthy". I think that's a lame excuse, but I'm guessing that's going to be what the Spurs are going to be saying during the offseason to keep morale. ------------------ "Empire" had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings. All "Jedi" had was a bunch of Muppets.
I completely disagree. If there is anybody who can matchup with Kobe Bryant, it's McGrady without a doubt. He is athletic, tall, with long arms and a strong will, and he could keep Kobe under control. He can also score on Kobe, and is money in the playoffs. With help, Duncan could have easily neutralized Shaq, and who would matchup with Grant Hill? Meanwhile I think Orlando's supporting cast could more then hold their own with the Lakers, and they're deeper then LA. I would have loved their chances. ------------------ See the three, be the three. [This message has been edited by RocksMillenium (edited May 26, 2001).]
This year's LA team is LIGHT YEARS ahead of last year's LA team. The Spurs were the defending champs last year, and they didn't get to defend. Two totally different teams/times.
Duncan, McGrady and a healthy Hill would be the best team in the NBA IMO. Problem is the Magic could not afford Duncan, Hill and McGrady. Rember they were so low on money after signing McGady that they could not afford MoT. The Magic signed Hill first. Then if Duncan would have signed McGrady would have ended up somewhere else. Then Hill would have gotten hurt and been out for the season and it would have been Duncan all by himself on that team. Now tell me how a team with Tim Duncan and nothing else could beat the Lakers when the Spurs can't do it. ------------------
T-Mac would have ended up in Chicago... Anyway, with Only Duncan playing this season, the Tragic would be headed to a high draft pick, got Richardson or Griff, and with a healthy Grant, rock the world next season. I like their organization a lot. That team will be a player for sometime to come. (yup--it's my undying belief that the Bulls will too) ------------------
Just McGrady and Duncan would have been a great team. Imagine this lineup: McGrady Duncan that team would have contended... ------------------ The Protrolls.com message boards! Protrolls.com! I wouldn't put Duncan's decision down as stupid just yet . . . next year just think of how good the Spurs will be -- this team will be killer in the zone defense . . . lots of old jumpshooters and two great shotblockers. I predict Danny Ferry for MVP from all the jumpers he'll be taking . . . ------------------ blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
Were Duncan to come to the Magic, it would've been McGrady, Hill, and TD - and not just Hill, leaving McGrady out. GM John Gabriel had a way to sign all three for a little less than the MAX (and they all, supposedly, agreed to it), but Duncan decided to stay in San Antonio so McGrady and Hill got the Max. Coach Rivers still says that if they would've been allowed to get Duncan to sign on the dotted line before he went back to San Antonio in July, he'd be in a Magic uniform right now. But since he went back, Rivers knew the Magic lost him. By the way, the free agent signing date is July 15th this year, meaning news on Webber could come earlier than expected. ------------------

"By the way, the free agent signing date is July 15th this year" HELL F***ING YES! Thank god for that! ------------------ The Protrolls.com message boards! Protrolls.com! Home of Turn, Tweak, and all your demented favorites!
The thing you have to remember though is that the Lakers shouldn't have won the championship last year. Portland just choked, when they were up by 15 with I think around 8 minutes left in the 4th. They had played so well that game 7, that they deserved the championship until they choked. This year is a totally different story though. THe Blazers are horrible, and this year the way the Lakers are playin, they deserve the championship. ------------------ "See they pick and pick and pick. Man they picked me to death." -Steve Francis on the Utah Jazz
I'm trying to figure out why anyone would slam a guy for having the class and integrity to not jump ship on his team. Apparently the players have better values than the fans nowadays.
Um... I thought the LAKERS won it last year? The LAKERS are the defending Champs. The ORIGINAL Rocket Rich NYC
No, when the Spurs were in the playoffs last year they were coming off their championship from 98-99, and were thus the defending champions. ------------------ [This message has been edited by tacoma park legend (edited May 27, 2001).]
