Dirk is a better player... but at least Duncan is not a flamboyant douchebag.

Ah, voted on the poll before reading the first post.

Post game vs elbow fadeaways. And Duncan's proven he can hit the J from the arc too.

Duncan is great, but Dirk can do it all attack the basket, spread the floor, and shoot lights out.

Duncan. Put Duncan in Mavs, they might have 2 championships right now.

Nowadays? Clearly Dirk is better than TD. TD doesn't even show up every game now. For their entire careers, TD blows Dirk away, but that isn't the question you asked.

Dirk is the better player now. Duncan is out of his prime but still a great player.

There are times when duncan can be real good, but he has to pick and chose his spots. Usually 34 is when big men fall of the cliff in terms of production. Happened to shaq, hakeem, admiral etc.

Dirk is a loser.. 1st seed losing to 8th.. 2nd seed losing to 7th.. lost finals after 2-0 lead..

Dirk is better right now but I think Duncan wins if they are both in their prime.

On offense, Dirk is clearly better now. Duncan can be contained by single coverage and is not going to be able to carry his team on offense. Ginobli/Parker/Hill are the primary facilitators.

On defense, Duncan is still better. And by a wide margin. Duncan is still a presence inside. He blocks and alters shots. He is also one of the big reasons Spurs defense are so good. Spurs guards try to funnel whatever they can towards the baseline where Duncan can cover them. Also, if I want rebounding, I would still go with Duncan.

OTOH, I dont think anyone can claim that Dirk is a presence on defense despite his 7 foot frame. He is not an intimidating force on the block.

If you want offense, go with Dirk. Especially if your team already has players than can plug the middle on defense.

If you want someone to anchor your defense, and already have other players on team that can create for themselves and others, go with Duncan.

Put Duncan on this year's Mavs and they would have been worse than they were. Duncan is the best PF to ever play the game, but Dirk is the better player now.

    Explained?
    I am serious because. . .
It seems that people who say this are only looking at one end of the court
It is always about OFFENSE OFFENSE OFFENSE

Player A scores 50 but gives up 40
Player B scores 30 but gives up 10 and blocks 3 shots and 2 steal.

People will says PLAYER A is better.

    Offense: DIRK > DUNCAN
    Defense: DUNCAN >>> DIRK
    Intangibles: DUNCAN > DIRK

Right now Dirk is better but does that even matter? If you're trying to compare the two that's about the only advantage Dirk has over TD.
