Since he's been busy presidentin' we haven't seen dubya in a while... well...he's back! -- White House defends use of 'Pakis' WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House has said that U.S. President George W. Bush meant no disrespect to the Pakistani people by referring to them as "Pakis." "The president has great respect for Pakistan, the Pakistani people, and the Pakistani culture. Pakistan has been a strong member of the international coalition in the war against terrorism," said White House spokesman Scott McClellan. Bush used the term in remarks to reporters on Monday when discussing the possibility of nuclear rivals India and Pakistan going to war. "I don't believe the situation is defused yet, but I do believe there is a way to do so, and we are working hard to convince both the Indians and the Pakis there's a way to deal with their problems without going to war," Bush said. Most Americans are unaware of the sensitivity of the term. In Britain, however, it is considered an ethnic slur toward Pakistanis who emigrated there in large numbers in the 1960s and '70s. Asad Hayauddin, spokesman at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington, said he did not consider what Bush said to be an insult. "I would give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was said in passing. In all fairness, I would say it's not a racial slur," he said. He did, however, receive a number of phone calls from reporters seeking the embassy's reaction. -- Read my lips: Didn't he learn anything from his daddy? Bush Vows to Reject Tax Hike 'Over My Dead Body' ONTARIO, Calif. (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) on Saturday vowed to block ``over my dead body'' any attempt to raise taxes as he launched an election-year political strategy by pitching his economic plan at ground zero of the recession. Labeling Democratic calls to slow the phase-in of his 10-year, $1.35 trillion tax cut a tax raise in disguise, Bush said: ``I challenge their economics when they say a raise in taxes will help the country recover. Not over my dead body will they raise your taxes,'' Bush said. His pledge -- which echoed his father, former President George Bush's ``Read my lips: No new taxes'' vow -- drew enthusiastic applause from a heavily Hispanic crowd of more than 5,000 at a town hall-style meeting in Ontario. -- Oh well... and a caption game to boot! actual caption: President George W. Sigh... This is right up there with "Kosovarians"... No matter. His aides know what's going on. Just wish they'd train him a little better so the PC Police couldn't jump on him for stupid s*it like this...
I will bet he learned an important lesson. Therefore, I don't think he will sign any bills that call for new taxes. Good job "W".
Right when I thought that Bill Clinton was the most entertaining president that we had ever seen, Dubya steps right in and backhands Bill back to Arkansas. I think the Saturday Night Live Dubya character and the real life Dubya are getting closer and closer to exact copies day by day. Dubya is classic...I just wish his aides and wife would REALLY let him speak his mind. We would've heard about how we need to break our boot off in the terrorists tail. Free speech for Dubya!!!
