It is pretty sad to see his career end like this. I was looking forward to seeing him play against Yao Ming.
Even better is the Mispelling of his name on the front page of ESPN. Under the banner that shows the lead stories for ESPN at 11:00 spells his name OlajuwAn.
I heard this on 610 a.m. - sports note. They mentioned that Hakeem was considering an assistant coaching job with the Wizards. Surely I misunderstood and they were referring to Ewing retiring recently - being a contemporary of Olajuwon... Did anyone else hear that Hakeem was considering the Asst. coaching job at Wash.??
TBar, Check this thread out... you're not the only that heard it I guess : http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42544
I think its fitting that Dream retires in Houston, albeit against the Rockets. I'm sure he now regrets his decision to sign in Toronto.
we find out hakeem is retiring on the same day we find out yao ming is signing. kinda cool and weird.
Thanks for the info- I am saddened the way he went out. He was nothing but class through his career. Even the hitting and fights early led to a maturing later- he continued to grow and develop his talent through his career. He played under a terrible owner in Charlie Thomas, and an even worse GM - Steve Patterson. He did not have a lot of help in the 93 and 94 runs. He will always be a big time hero. Good luck Hakeem.....
