Man, I really wish that PPV battle would have taken place. If you don't remember, in the mid to late 90's there was going to be this Shaq v. Dream one on one basketball game on PPV. It was sponsored by Taco Bell. I think I still have a cup from Taco Bell with Shaq and Dream staring each other down. I don't remember the reason it was canceled but it never happened. I'm sure Hakeem would have taken him. He was in his prime while Shaq was being labeled the phenom.
EDIT: This article says Hakeem hurt his back. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3190/is_n40_v29/ai_17601409 I guess they just made this commercial instead. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JnyWar8uOTI&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JnyWar8uOTI&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Found some images of them together. Hakeem is a really humble guy, he never takes personal credit for his achievements.
I almost cried when I watched thsi video. One thing because I don't see Rockets reaching this achievement with Tracy on the front seat. Not because he doesn't play well but his mental game. And he's not too young to change it. I'm not suprised why Kenny & Charles look at us negatively, it's not about the organization, but the leader on the floor.
I voted Shaq because this is the stupidest thread ever. Please, let's waste space and discuss the obvious. After this why don't we try and figure out what 2 + 2 is? The one has been plaguing the board for years now.
Obviously everyone is going to pick the Dream but the REAL basketball fans would ask Well during their primes? When illegal D was illegal? Which decade? Which team (Lakers or Houston) I would take on or the other during certain time periods... Or how about would Hakeem ( In his prime ) win as man wins as Shaq on the Lakers squad and Vise Versa..
I don't know what it is about the two championship years...maybe because it was our first and second championships of the city... Maybe I will be proven wrong but I don't think we will ever feel...at least I won't...the joy, happiness and pride I felt during those two summers ESPECIALLY after the second run. That experience is so seared into my brain I can almost catapult back to that time...and my eyes still water thinking about it. I am all for championships. But I highly doubt those two summers will ever be duplicated for a Rockets fan.
Its a rockets forum..........we are going to pick the one that says we are true rockets fans ........Not the one that says i hate the rockets.......Pointless thread......... Shaq more domanint Dream was more everything else
