Hypothetically, if the season ended now, what are our chances in the lottery? I seem to remember someone saying it was about 3% that we'd get the first pick. As it stands now, does anybody kow how many ping pong balls we'd have?
This is a very weak draft that you have Aldridge and Gay at the top where neither could get into top 5 in 2003 draft. The Rockets have too many holes to fill. If we don't trade Mac this summer (I don't think so), we probably should go for a pure shooter like JJ even if his defense sucks and costs JVG 10 years of his lives.
3%? Try 0.7% http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/lottery2006/mockdraft 3% might be around the chances of getting a top 3 pick. So no, our chances at getting a top pick aren't too good.
I say we get either Brandon Rush or Brandon Roy. Both smart tall SG's that will be around our pick (9-14).
We have virtually no chance of getting the No.1 overall pick. Most likely we'll be selecting from the 10th to the 14th spot in the draft. You can still get a decent starter caliber player in that range. Unfortunately, scouting has not been a strength of the Rockets organization.
Also it seems like Tyrus Thomas' stock is a bit up and down. And I'm becoming increasingly intrigued by Joakim Noah. Both would be an upgrade at the PF. McRoberts might be worth the risk too. A PF with skills and an inside/outside game would look mighty good between Yao and T-mac.
I really doubt we'll be drafting a PF, really doubt it. Here's why I REALLY think they'll be upgrading the backcourt, AKA Shooting guard position: We get burnt by SG's every game because they shoot out their 3's. Reason being is we play team defense because none of our backcourt players can play individual defense. That is why alot of you are complaining how we always leave players open for 3's when we really have no choice but to do it. A taller defending SG would help us THAT much. Brandon Rush or Brandon Roy. Maybe a PF/C in the 2nd round though.
Whenever the media predict a selection, the team and players in question are very unlikely to end up together All ESPN are saying there is that Rockets are lottery bound.
