There could still be a few trades between now and then, but if this ends up being the case, that means that Beal could fall to 5 if the Cavs take Barnes at 4. If we can trade for that 5th pick...

If the draft plays out as the article illustrates, I can't see the Cavs passing on Barnes at 4. With Kyrie established as the top scorer for this team, they are going to need players who make him better. While both guys can do that, I believe Barnes is a better fit. With Barnes added as the starting 3 opposite Thompson at the 4 this gives the Cavs a huge advantage when running. When they push on the break, who won't find to many 3's and 4's who can keep up with Barnes and Thompson. Another thing to consider is that Irving will dominate the ball offensively. Beal is a guy who is going to need the ball much more then Barnes. I doubt the Cavs would want to draft a player who will take the ball away from Irving as much as Beal would.

It gets interesting then at 5. If the Cavs do take Barnes then the Kings are in a tough spot. Beal is the next guy to go but doesn't make much sense next to Evans. I could see this being the first real chance to see a trade in the draft.

    Good chance.

It's just that the Kings have at the 2:

Evans (although they tried to make him a 3, and he thinks he's a 1)
    Thornton
    Salmons
    Garcia
Fredette (for all intents and purposes)

And their best available pick might be Beal.

After the insane trade today where the Wizards picked up Okafor and Ariza, isn't it clear Beal is their choice at #3 instead of MKG? Why trade for Ariza and draft MKG?

Yup. It is. That means MKG slides to 4 and Barnes to 5.

Wizards are a little too loaded at the three to add MKG over Beal after this trade

    SF: Ariza/Singleton/Vesely/Vesely's GF

Yea, this thread was made before that trade happened. Looks like Beal will be gone at 3 now.

This. I've said this before: The last thing the wiz need is another SF. Vesely and Singleton, plus Ariza means they will not spend that pick on MKG or Barnes. The pick is Beal, plus, supposedly he really lit it up in the Wiz workout. They've needed a 2-guard since they traded Nick Young (who was a poor fit).

Not necessarily. There has been alot of talk on this board about trades involving Evans, but I really haven't heard much chatter about the Kings actually talking about trading him. So if the Kings stay commited to Evans and Cousins moving forward then if Davis, Robinson, Gilchrist and Barnes are off the board when the Kings are up at 5 why not look at your trade options.

Maybe they can ship the 5th pick to Toronto for their 8th pick and Derozin if the Raptors are high on Beal. Maybe the Hornets offer them the 10th pick and a future 1st if they really like Lillard to man the point for Gorden and Davis or if they want Drummond to pair with Davis down low. Or maybe they like Lowry and trade us their pick plus a future pick for Lowry and both our 1st's or maybe just Lowry and one of our 1st's for just their 5th pick.

These are just a few examples of what they could trading the 5th pick and improving there team building around Evans and Cousins.

So much for that. MKG to the cavs makes the cavs a hell of a team.

So you think they value MKG over Barnes? I thought they were really high on Barnes.

I'm sure they are, but this idea of them being high on and taking Barnes was most likely under the assumption MKG would be gone.

So who does NO take with the 10th pick now? Do they go big man and get Leonard? Or do they go PG and take Lillard?

Dang. I wish we could swap players and picks with NOH. That could be a really fun team.

With the uncertainty of Gordon and Davis coming in, I think they just take best player available of the remaining PGs, SGs, SFs, PFs

I think the assumption was MKG would be gone at #4.

I just dont think they pass on him for Barnes. If thats the case, that would be a huge mistake, and then the Kings will start Thorton, Evans, MKG, Cousins.

That would be an awesome team if they could pull their heads out of their asses.

According to an NBA source, Harrison Barnes had a workout scheduled in Sacramento on Friday, but has cancelled.Top 4 promise?
    — James Ham (@James_Ham)

I guess this means Barnes goes to Cleveland.
