I've never seen the geodesic domes, but I've spent the night in a "true" dome home like the one bejezuz just posted. It was a trip what an acoustical oddity that place was! First of all... not a place to own if you need privacy. Sound carried all over the place. But, the weirdest thing of all was the "dish" effect. Every point in the house had a corresponding point somewhere else the sound was being amplified and focused by the dome. I was sitting on the couch and kept hearing this noise like someone was talking right in my ear. I thought I was going crazy until I matched the sounds to the lip movements of a conversation in the kitchen across the house. We had some fun after that running around whispering into the walls and trying to find the spot where you could hear it clear as day. Not sure I'd want to live with that though. Anyway, not sure what this has to do with anything. Carry on...
There are some dome beach houses due to the fact that they can withstand wind force better than a square house. Florida ought to have more of them...and insurance companies ought to give a discount for that. I wonder if that's the case?
