they're cooler than cats. Thoughts? ------------------ I refuse to use smiley's in my posts, you'll just have to figure out how serious I am on your own...
i have dogs too! chico, trine, tommy, and piggy......dogs suck and stink and poopy in the yard to much! ------------------ i am my own worst enemy
BGM is on to something... dogs rock. And they scare people away. that rules. woo. ------------------ snap crackle pop
That's like saying Chinese food ROCKS, and Pizza SUCKS... they're both good, just different. I live in an apartment, so dogs (especially multiple ones) are not an option. Cats crap in a little box, you scoop it, and put it in the toilet... how easy is that? You don't have to bathe cats, try that with a dog. Cats don't take up as much room on the bed Cats don't go sniffing people's crotches (well, not as much as their counterparts). I love dogs, but until I have a backyard to put one, I'll stick with cats. ------------------ DREAMer's Rocket Page [This message has been edited by DREAMer (edited May 21, 2001).]
I'm too lazy for dogs . . . cats are such low-maintenance animals . . . dogs need to be walked, cleaned, etc. I can hardly walk and clean myself, let alone a dog!! ------------------ "Up and down, inside out, outside in, some you lose some you win" -- DMB -> "Sweet Up and Down"
The best thing about a dog is that you know it actually gives a damn about you, and is glad to see you when you get home, and never gets tired of playing with you. All that make all the work worthwhile. Cats are so independent that for all you know it hates your guts. ------------------ P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.
Hell yeah, BGM!!! I am getting tired of all these wussy kitty cat threads. I want an animal that can bark, dammit! I have never been able to enjoy any cats that I have seen (with the exception of some kittens, but that is fleeting at best). But then again, that's just me, I may be wrong. ------------------ Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
Cats crap in a little box, you scoop it, and put it in the toilet... how easy is that? Dogs will crap outside if you simply take them out for a short walk twice a day. No muss, no fuss, and no worrying if you kitty litter is "absorbant" enough. [*]You don't have to bathe cats, try that with a dog. I have a dog with short hair. It doesn't need to be cut, and since I am keeping him as an inside dog, he rarely gets stinky in any way... I really don't wash him all that often, and when I do, it can be fun because he enjoys it. [*]Cats don't take up as much room on the bed. This is true, but dogs don't necessarily insist on sleeping with you anyway... but it is not a difficult chore to find a dog that is the same size if not smaller than most cats. [*]Cats don't go sniffing people's crotches (well, not as much as their counterparts). This is cliche, and most dogs I have known don't really do it. Certainly dogs smell people, but they don't really choose the crotch to do so. There are drawbacks and benefits to having a dog, but most of them are easily avoidable if you know ahead of time that you want to avoid them (avoision). I live in an apartment, and after several weeks of housebreaking of my dog, I rarely have a problem with him (and if I do, it is usually my fault, for instance if I neglect to take him out in the morning). ------------------ Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
Reminds me of what Rober Diniro said in that movie "Meet the Parents" about cats vs dogs...and I am paraphrasing here...Cats, you have to earn their love...ah **** i forgot...its late at night...somebody help me out here? ------------------
I hate dogs and cats. but dogs are okay, cats are just creepy. When i was like 7 years old i once picked up a cat by its tail and twirled it in the air and tossed that sucker! I of course wouldnt do it anymore, but hey comeon I was young! I still laugh about it everytime I think of the stupid cats expression when it was in the air! ------------------
i like dogs better than cats, because it mainly a dog will show his/her affection for you..my dog is 7 yrs old and when i get home in the afternoon she runs right over to me and barks..also she mopes around when her mom (my mom) isnt home because thats who she likes the best..however it is cool that when shes not home she runs up to hang out with me and sleeps in my room(its a lhasa apso) or another way she shows she likes me is shell start licking my hands non stop..yeah she goes for a walk in the morning but the rest of the day she just goes outside on occasion..yeah im prob biased since im a dog owner but even if i didnt have one dogs appear to be more emotional than cats thus i like them more ------------------ How Sweet It Is! cats are the laziest pet i have ever seen in my life. all they do is sit, sleep, and eat. Dogs on the other had a heck a lot of better then cats. They are playful, cuter, etc. They dont call dogs a mans best friend for nothing. ------------------
i love dogs, but i just don't have the time for them. they do actually require more attention then a busy person can give. As for love, I think my cats love me, but who knows. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." I have a 5 y/o chocalte lab who is the greatest dog in the world! But yeah I'm not a cat person. Go dogs!!!!
I love dogs and I'm thinking about getting one, but I've got a few hinderances: 1. The fence around my backyard is only waist high, so any dog bigger than 30 pounds or so could jump it. It costs about $2,000 to put in a new fence all the way around. 2. I spend alot of time away from home. Anybody know of any breeds that would be cool to own that would not jump a waist high fence nor go nuts if their master wasn't around all of the time? I've been looking at Chows and a zillion different Terrier breeds. Any suggestions? ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker [This message has been edited by RocketMan Tex (edited May 22, 2001).]
RocketMan Tex....generally, I don't like the smaller breeds, but I had a mutt once that was mostly Scottish Terrier. Hell, for all I know, he was full bred. He was born in Australia, where a son of a family friend found him. This man took him to Europe where he lived in France and Spain, but when the man moved back to the States, he had to give the dog away, and I ended up with him. That dog was bad-ass!! Very loyal; barked if someone approached the yard, but wasn't a "barker." He was tough as hell, but good around people. They do have long hair which needs to be trimmed occasionally, but they don't shed much. Anyway, I think they are a pretty cool "smaller" dog. ------------------ stop posting my damn signature
I'm a dog person, too. I like cats as well but considering I ran over my cat I had for 15 years as a teenager and watched it convulse/die, I figured I better stay away from cats as that really tore me up. Anyways, two female Rhodesian Ridgebacks and any cat do not mix....especially if they were not brought up together. I will be the first to admit that my indoor dogs require high maintenance such as constantly cleaning up after them. They can mess up the place in no time at all whether it be tracking in dirt, shedding hair, eating messily, etc. . These are big dogs, however. I have slipcovers on the sofas. Those and bed spreads get dirty in a few days easily. I'm constantly washing those items and constantly vacuuming and occassionally steam cleaning the carpets. That's only part of it. These dogs require their walks. I consider myself busy with a regular office job but I have to make time for these dogs to get their walks or they get depressed from just being confined to the house and backyard all the time. Since these are hunting dogs, they love to chase and hunt squirrels. Just the other day and right when I got to the park, I let one off the leash. She eyed a squirrel a ways off that some guy was feeding bird feed to. The dog, ignoring voice commands, took off and chased the squirrel across the park and finally up a tree. She then came back afterwards like usual. The park has a leash ordinance requiring a leash but hell with that. My dogs need to be free to run around as that makes them so happy. I don't care about no stinking leash law. As long as my dogs are bothering anyone, then their off the leash. They only bother the squirrels...who have no rights other than their entitled to become roadkill or electrocuted by power lines . I say write me a ticket if you don't like it...but noone has. Even then, I would still let them off. Each dog situation is unique. My dogs require high maintenance and lots of time to support them. It's a lot of time consuming, repetitive work...almost like raising kids. Smaller dog owners I'm sure have it much easier. Cat owners have it easiest of all...no doubt. A lot of dog owners just keep their dogs in their backyards, never let them inside, and never do anything with them(as is the case with my neighbor). That is the worst type of dog owner around. Dogs are cool but they also suck. ------------------
Thats one ugly ass dog!! Im simply perfer cats for the same reason DREAMer does. You may want a dog that "barks", but I hate those damn dogs that won't quit barking. Cats are just so much more ... devious. Its entertaining to watch a cat and dog wrestle around with eachother. ------------------ If Bill Gates had a dime for every time Windows crashed... Oh, Wait!! He Does!
Cats are terrific. They're more self-sufficient, mysterious, elegant, intelligent, and subtle. With a dog, it's all out there: what you see is what you get (for me). Cats are layered, and you always learn more about them. They don't trust easily, but they can be loving... but not clingy. And cats seem more distinct to me, although that may just be because I've had more of them. Every cat is very different and act uniquely... while the dogs just seem to blur together. I want a Norwegian Forest Cat... anybody want to sell one, by any chance ? I've been looking for an affordable one for w hile now. ------------------ A few years back on the Senate floor... I think this is just because you have had more cats... because that is exactly how I feel, but in reverse. I have rarely seen cats that I felt had a unique personalities. But every dog I have owned has been so different from the one before it, I find myself treating them like people sometimes. I guess that is just my dog bias. ------------------ Give me ambiguity or give me something else. [This message has been edited by RunninRaven (edited May 22, 2001).]
