Dwight is the weakest minded athlete Houston has... I thought Matt Schaub and Hoyer were bad Dwight is actually a female type dude.
For me -- Our unwillingness to box out is the most annoying thing we do. Small children are taught how to do this when they first step on the court. Shot goes up -- Find a body, then go get the ball. This, plus a few other annoying things make this team very hard to watch.
Nobody on the team knows how to box out, stay in front of their man, rotate properly, communicate, etc, etc. These are defensive FUNDAMENTALS that professional players cannot seem to grasp.
If he doesn't know how, it's another indictment on his fundamentals. If dude was a few inches shorter, he never wouldn't be in the league.
He has always relied on his athleticism to out-jump and over-power his opponent to grab those rebounds, so I guess he didn't even bother learning the most basic and fundamental aspects of the game of basketball. If he still doesn't know how to properly box out or post up at this stage of his career, it's pretty much game over.
Only one player on the team boxes out consistently and his name starts with an M and ends with ontrezl.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/B34rVdBPyG0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> he's trash
He has no fundamentals. When he tries to block a shot, he goes for the ball instead of contesting the shooter. That's why he gets so many goaltends. He's a dumbass.
It isn't all his fault. Yeah he doesnt box out well but he still gets boards cause of his athleticism. The reason we give up so many offensive boards is because our ****ty perimeter defense from our guards. Once the other team's guards inevitably drive right past our perimeter players Dwight has to contest their layup so that they miss, and this leads to an easy offensive board and put back for them cause he is no longer in position.
Maybe if he tried to just get in position and stand with his arms straight up instead of trying to sky for a block every time, he'd be able to jump for the rebound. Just give all his minutes to Trezz ffs
Or maybe if we had a power forward that knew how to box out or a guard who knew how to prevent any player from driving into the lane and/or crash the boards when dwight contests.
please, Dwight rarely contest shots anymore. He always settles for the rebound instead of closing out on the shooters. Capela actually does that, and that's why our defense works much better with him on the floor. Anyway, having a weak rebounder at the PF spot is probably the biggest reason why we give away so many offensive boards.
At least in this series most of the time it hasn't been on Dwight. Someone lets their man blow by on the perimeter and Dwight is forced to rotate over and help defend the rim (It's either that or give up a layup). The problem is nobody else understands that they need to rotate over and box out Bogut when this happens. They don't have to be Bogut's size. They just need to get in his way and prevent an easy tip-in.
cmon guys how can you believe players give their full effort every game? there are some that dont do that and dwight is one of them this season. dwight doenst care. lots of times he just move sto the side as someone drives to the basket. he's also out of position a lot helping out so much on defense, like ariza, bev and whoever else tries to play defense.
This series totally reminds me of when Dwight was with the Lakers vs. the Spurs. Expect Dwight to get ejected at the end of game 4. Hopefully he takes out Green or something.
