Yes i was rubbing my eyes as well after that..i mean everytime they show his stat line all the can say is "Grounded into DP" lol...but this time he came through and it was great.
I've got the perfect front page for the sports section on Monday. Same tombstone, but one arm reaching above the ground with a baseball bat in its hand. Night of the living dead style. Perfect or what?
CHOO CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Bidge, Lidge, Willy T, MoBerg. WOO! Lidge K's Saenz, then Willy/Bidge doubleteam Robles at 2nd.
did you read the Chronicle this morning...Ortiz was talking about that in his column...doing that very thing. of course, he proceeded to turn it around by saying they really hadn't beaten anyone since the Padres weren't that good of a first place team. ahhhh...the chronicle. they'll piss on every parade.
People still read the paper? I get enough Richard Justice/John McClain on SR610, and I read all of the Feigen articles here.
By the way, earlier in this series, Qualls was charged with a wild pitch and a run scored which was charged to Roy. The official scoring was changed to a passed ball, which makes that run unearned - and Roy's ERA is now 2.39. That means that he is tied with Dontrelle for the second best ERA in the National League. The fact that he had to be voted in is as ludicrous as Morgan's snub.
That was the most fun Astros game I have ever been too. It was boring for the first 5 innings when we had only 1 hit. But then, BOOM goes the thunder! Great game. Palmiero was robbed of a HR, or atleast a double. The game got really exciting at the bottom of the eight when Lidge came strolling out of the bullpen. The place went crazy! Lights out lidge was written everywhere. And that throw and tag by Biggio to end the game was insanely awesome, just added to the excitment! At first I was like great, I bought expensive (more than I normally pay) tickets to this game, when the team had the bases loaded with NO OUTS, but couldn't muster a run.
That also means that he now has a career ERA below 3.00... and yet he'll still play second-fiddle to Mark Prior, Kerry Wood, Carlos Zambrano, Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder (not so much anymore), and Dontrelle on the "pitchers under 30 who you'd most like to have." I'm taking Roy until one of those other guys proves otherwise... so far, Roy has proven to outperform them all.
Lidge K's Saenz, then Willy/Bidge doubleteam Robles at 2nd. -- Video Incase you guys didn't see it before.
A couple of real quality late inning wins in this series that will hopefully carry over into the second half of the season. I absolutely love the clutch hitting. I know there is still a long way to go, but if we can average 2 out of 3 the rest of the way that comes out to about 94 wins...which should be enough for the Wild Card I would think.
Where I sit, people are drunk and crazy. I sit near the baseball speed/mph sign along the right field line.
