Talking to a Hakeem fanatic, and he mentions some college game. I wasn't listening that well because he was rambling most of the time. But he mentioned some game between Phi Slamma Jamma vs. the Doctors of Dunk, and how Dream just dominated the game. Didn't get to collect any more info before I left. Anyone know about this one?
The Doctors of Dunk were the Lousville Cardinals (who incidentally had Rodney McCray) and of course Phi Slamma Jamma was UH. The game was played in 1983. It was in the Final Four and it was a dunkfest... I don't think any part of the game was played below the rim... lol. Benny Anders was dropping from the rafters to dunk some of his shots... Of course, it was a tragedy when UH ended up losing to NC State in the Finals that year...
The only reason DOD knows everything is because he is much older then us normal folks. Hey DOD were the Yankees really that good in the 20's?
Yeah. That was a pretty good game. That was when they began counting dunks as a stat. I don't think they count them anymore, but that ignited it. I loved when Dream took on the whole Virginia Cavs team in the Final Four a few years later. That's the only time I've seen a quadruple team get shredded.
DoD- Since we are all preparing for the Thanksgiving Holiday, I was wondering what the 1st Thanksgiving was actually like?
