I haven’t heard about anyone other than the Mavs showing any interest in Moochie Norris. After the way he played backing up Steve last year I would have thought he would have been a highly sought after free agent. I would take Mooch over most of the starters in this league. The guy has great handles, is quick as lightning going to the basket and is great at getting the rest of the team involved. He reminds me of Robert Pack with out the injuries and with a better attitude. Is Moochie really this good or am I just biased?

I think Moochie is valuable, but he is not worth $ 4.5 mio. per year...then again, compared to Cato...

    ------------------
Rockets' offseason tasks in order of priority:
    • Get rid of Cato under any circumstances.
    • Sign Chris Webber.
    • Re-Sign Hakeem.
    • Re-Sign Moochie and AirBullard.
    • Pick up the Langhi option for another year.
    • Trade for Bo Outlaw and Raef LaFrentz.

I think Mooch like you said really gets his teammates involved Crash. He seems to bring a certain chemistry to the floor that doesn't exist when he's off of it.Between his playmaking skills and the ability to knock down the 15-20 wide open jumper,I don't think we overrate him at all.Norris gives Rudy such flexibility with his lineup and is a definite change of pace.I think he's among the best backups in the league(top 3 at least). He'll take less moola, he's so tight with the other players, and the fans love him.
    Keep him......

Not as a back up maybe, but what if he were a starter? Here are some teams that I think he could start for:

    GS
    LAC
    San Antonio
    Miami
    New York
    Boston
    Atlanta
    Chicago
    Washington
    Detroit

    Just my oppinion.

Hardwood, you've nailed it (no pun intended). He fits so well with this group and brings an energy and mental toughness. Don't think he would start for most teams but he's a terrific little player. At the end of the day, I feel confident he'll re-sign with us.

The only thing he does that bugs the hell out of me is his tendency to dribble the ball for 20 seconds, and this puts the team in a situation where they gotta throw up a last minute shot or prayer. He just holds on to the ball too long.

Moochie is da man. Wild hair, quick wheels, team first PG, great O, and solid little man D.

I'm not so sure other teams aren't talking to the Mooch. I think he's comfortable with HOU and will stay if our offer is reasonable (and it will be).

Yes, he could start for others...however, he's in a system perfect for his style and RT loves his game and gives him mins. This is BB narvana for Mooch who has knocked around the league a while.

Why risk it, only greed could spoil this part of our team...either ROX being cheap or Mooch seeing $$ and promises. I'll bet both sides do the right thing...pls!

We underrate Moochie on this board, as I have said several times. His court vision, energy, ball handling, shooting, and playmaking ability make him very valuable to us, and that's not even mentioning how he's the most clutch guy on this team. The reason you don't hear talk about him throughout the league is the same reason you don't hear much talk about Mo Taylor this summer-- everyone knows they are staying here. Why waste your time with someone who isn't going to leave?

I think that Moochie is an awesome back up PG. I have been wondering why Dallas of all teams is interested? They have Nash and Eisley right? I think Eisley is a great backup PG too. Mochie is a great plus for the Rockets.

    Are you kidding me?

Underrate huh? I wonder how you would rate him among other point guards? Is he better than lets say, Bobby Jackson of SAC? I'd bet most of you would pick him over Jackson..

Mooch isn't going anywhere. I saw him hangin' with the Rocks today at the game and talking to Rudy and the coaching staff. Cuban was also in attendance and I asked not to steal Mooch from us and he just smiled.

For the Rockets, there's no question I would take Moochie over Jackson. The gifts he brings to this team, along with his fit in team chemistry make his role very hard to replace. For other teams, it simply depends on the type of offense they run and what their team needs are. Mooch and Jackson are similar in role, but vary in style, so it depends on what the individual team needs. Overall though, they are very similar in their game. The only difference is Jackson is much more hyped since he played the role on a breakout team that headed to the playoffs, but Moochie will get his attention too if the Rockets can have a year comparable to the Kings last year.

As Rocket fans we tend to overrate (for the most part, as a whole) our own non star players.

KT a while back was on his way to stardom after a decent game against Duncan.

Bryce Drew was going to be something special

Jason Collier was going to be a great addition.

Bullard would undeniably not be playing on any other team.

And just now after a full 2 years, Walt is recognized for the amzing failure he is, when most other teams (and fans of) knew this 2 years ago.

Are there places for these types of players...absolutely. Do we tend to overrate our own...absolutely. Is there anything wrong with that...nope. But try having a subjective conversation as to whos the better player with a Mavs fan, Eisley, or Mooch. And I bet youll hear alot of the same things.

    1. Great Shooter
    2. Great driver
    3. Great for chemistry
    4. Major fan favorite
    5. Great playmaker (better PURE pg than most)
    6. Comes cheap
    7. Gives his 110%
    8. The fro

    Overratted? I don't think so.

I've always said he could be a starter on a lesser team or a role player on a good team. As a backup he fits perfect for us.

Moochie is the type of guy that could get you 14 pts, 6-7 assists per night on any normal team. He's obviously not as good as Francis, but I'd say he's better than Kenny Smith was for us. He's also clutch, and his 3pt shot is underrated by some people.
