after the season all the players, especially our back court, emphasized not breaking up the team because of the chemistry they had etc....

does anyone believe that they do have the chemistry? now theres a new coach, and 2 good role players about to be playing some good minutes,,,along with a different offensive scheme (yao touches) will they still have that so called chemistry

Only if chemistry mean taking turns on the iso.

Otherwise, NO. Shot clock violations are a testament to them not knowing what to do, where their teammates should be, or how to execute. A team with "chemistry" would know where the sweet spot is for each guy, and how to get the ball there. They'd know how to help a guy in trouble.

Just taking turns is not chemistry.

Can't say until I actually see them play. I mean, the guys all get along great, you see them laughing on the bench and cracking jokes at practice....so yeah. The chemistry is there off the court, and that's gonna lead to good chemistry on the court. I can guarantee you that.

And pasox, as far as your theory of "A team with "chemistry" would know where the sweet spot is for each guy, and how to get the ball there." goes, that's all part of building chemistry. Yao's only been part of the team for 82 games, and they didn't have much time to work together beforethe season thanks to his Chinese team obligations. I think that Steve and Cat will have time to mesh with Yao after being able to actually hold training camp with him this season..

Yeah they got it. Steve and Cat know each other well. They're startin to get "fomfotable" with Yao. Most our guys have only been together a few seasons, so you shouldn't be asking to break them up already. You could say yeah we should be cuz we've missed the playoffs, but that's because Rudy couldn't get this team to run an efficient offense to save his life. I believe everything will flow much better with JVG at the helm. PATIENCE! BELIEVE!

Thats the big problem, there was little Team Chemistry. One hopes that JVG will bring in Team Play and Team Defence. Its difficult to develop Chemistry when your Star Point Guard isnt a Playmaker. Or when the Team leader doesnt believe in the Team Game.

You don't know that. Francis says he tries to get his teamates involved, but when they're not hitting, he'll try to start something himself. He's had success and doing that and also not such good results. Dont say though, that Stevie Franchise doesn't believe in the team game though, you don't know the guy, you don't see him at every practice. I'm sure you watch lots of games - so you could say you've seen enough to say that, but he has to take matters into his own hands sometimes as the leader, he might look like a ballhog sometimes, but I'm certain Francis just wants to elevate the play of his teamates and himself.

Cato is also good for a few alley-oops, compliments of Stevie. I hadn't seen him do that in Portland.

They are mistaking being "fomfotable" with chemistry. When you have good chemistry, you don't necessarily like each other or get along, but you know your role, you execute the game plan, and make each other better. Does anyone think that Hakeem, Maxwell, and Kenny Smith had much in common?

When a team is next to last in assist and at the bottom in scoring, i don't think chemistry should even be brought up. I can't tell you how many times this team had single digits in asst. I think last yr they had no game plan, so they had no chemistry.

Just because you've flamed me about my post content before (not to create hatred on the BBS), I have to say:

Defense spelled with an 's' not a 'c', unless you're from England and use flagrant slang.
Adjectives and nouns in sequence do not merit capitalization.
The apostrophe is located to the left of the enter button on your keyboard.

That said, I took heed when you told me that my colloquialisms were offensive to your personal tastes, so I wish you might do the same.

PS - I only posted that because I've been bugged by those idiosyncrasies in your posts for awhile.

Oh, and I don't agree with your post either.

I have a strong feeling that Francis and JVG are going to be in a visible struggle for control of the "on court" team before the All Star break. I just don't believe that Francis will submit to JVG's very patterned or highly structured plays. I also don't think Francis will play defense the way JVG will want. This will frustrate JVG and he will demand conformity, but he won't get it. Then things will get interesting. You heard it here first.

I think people tend to think that JVG and the players will mix well together.. but Rudy has a different style to JVG.. there could be a backlash from certain players if they are benched, maybe from EG or Franchise.. by the way people its a basketball forum not a grammar forum
