With one show down and two to go, there are bound to be lots of BBSers going to see the band.

I went last night in San Antonio. It was . . . . AWESOME. 2nd best show I've seen. The seats were unbelievable, the setlist was pretty good, and the band was really on its game last night.

Will post more later -- I'm late for something . . .

Who else went/is going?

I could've gone last night for face value and sat on the 10th row, but didn't. I'm going tomorrow and Saturday though. Haven't thought too much about it, but I'll definitely be getting in the groove tomorrow afternoon. I'll throw on one of the live DVDs to get pumped!

I'll be there tomorrow night....on the lawn is where it is at! I wouldn't sit anywhere else. There's just something about DMB, my hottie, a few cold ones, on the lawn....I can smell it now. Ahhh the memories. I'll share my review and set list tomorrow night or Saturday morning.

Alright, I have a bit more time . . .

So anyhow, I left work at about 2:00 yesterday and made it to SA, picked up a friend for the show, and headed up to Selma. Then I missed the exit, made a U-turn, blah blah blah, made it RIGHT to the seats as the show was about to start.

These aren't just any seats. No, they're not just ANY seat. See, at this theater, there's a small orchestra pit area in the very front. Then, sitting above that, the seating begins. The seats put you just above eye-level for the band. Now, we could've been closer (orchestra), or more close to center (we were on the right), but I can't complain . . .

BECAUSE WE WERE ON THE FRONT ROW!!!! The only people closer were in the orchestra, and we had a better view. UNREAL!!!

The only negative is that the people behind me probably couldn't see b/c I was standing, but I don't care -- I had a close, completely unobstructed view of the stage -- best seats I've ever had at a major venue.

So the band got underway with Grey Street, which was great. Fool to Think was nice, then Joy Ride, which is probably my second favorite new song. The crowd was really into it too, which I wasn't really expecting since most of them hadn't heard the song yet. The crowd did the "woo"s and everything. VERY cool. The next big highlight was When the World Ends. I don't know why, but man that was strong. Then an awesome Rapunzel. Crazy Easy was nice, but I haven't heard it enough to really get into it too much yet. Then an AWESOME LIOG. Boyd was going nuts! The whole band got really pumped with this song, and it really pushed the energy level up a notch. Then that was followed by my favorite new song -- Hello Again. I told my friend that before the end of that song, the crowd would be going crazy. So everyone sat down for the beginning, and the song kept getting more and more energetic, then Carter did his drum solo, and when the band got going again, the crowd was in a frenzy. That is THE new song right there -- AWESOME. The band closed out the set with a very nice Bartender, and a nice Tripping Billies (LIOG and TB in one set is a great combo), One Sweet World, then perhaps the song of the night -- Stay. WOW. There are no words to describe how awesome this song was. Everyone was going crazy. It was amazing. The band was really pumped, the crowd was screaming, and no one wanted it to end.

After another LENGTHY stay backstage (why do they stay so damned long back there? It used to be only a minute, now it's like 5 to 10!!), the band came out and played a fantastic Granny that was enhanced by the excitement still remaining from Stay. Then they finished it off with Too Much which really sent everyone home happy.

This was the second best DMB show I've been to, and the best seats. I with it would never have ended!

BTW, Butch looks VERY different without his goatee. I didn't recognize him at first. Leroi went without the shades, and I think I liked him better with them on. IMO, Carter looked better this year than last. I dunno, last year he looked older to me than he did this year. Dave seemed to be very relaxed. Oh, and the stage lighting this year is really neat. The road crew has done a fantastic job.

I think it might have something to do with the disappointing Dallas show last year. Plus, I think AA Arena sucks for concerts -- I think they mostly want to do theaters.

DM needs to focus on music, not advancing his political agenda.

I have a ticket to tonights show. But because I bought it a few months ago, my band has since booked gigs for tonight and tomorrow night, so I can't go at all.

Please drink a beer (or 24) for me and yell at Carter in my name tonight. Don't forget to post the setlists.

EDIT: Texx, believe it or not, Dave rarely if ever says anything political at his shows. I'm pretty sure he realizes that people are there to drink, hear music, and have fun, not get preached to.

Do you need someone to take the ticket off your hand's?

Man, with all the engagement stuff and other things that have been going on in the last month, I completely forgot about my plan to get a customized Texans jersey, #41 with Beauford on the back. I was going to find out where they were staying like we stumbled upon them last year and give it to him to see if he'd wear it on stage since he's been known to wear jerseys. Oh well, I'm still sending all of them invitations to the wedding. :)

MadMax -- email me -- I may have a free ticket for tonight, or tomorrow.

edit: On the Dallas thing --
I don't really understand why the show was subpar. I remember it being kind of dull and "ordinary" compared to the show in Houston. It was just kind of plain. Not too much energy. Lots of radio songs. ALTHOUGH, Stefan had an awesome show. He tore it up at the beginning of Watchtower, and the Grace is Gone intro was really cool. Otherwise, it was pretty mediocre. The crowd was somewhat good too (especially for Dallas), but I think it being in an arena had something to do with the disappointing show. They always do great in Houston, so I could totally see two Houston shows over one Houston and one Dallas.

Alright, I have a free ticket for tonight. If MadMax doesn't get back with me, whomever wants it can have it.
