i mean..damn...how far gone do you have to be to be willing to even suggest that your daughter...your apparently pre-teen daughter...become a suicide bomber?? so much for paternal instincts, huh?
That's a victory sign and I believe that is what it means in most parts of the world. Needless to say that I find this image sickening as well.
Regardless of this specific situation, from what I understand, the whole girl with bombs thing started last year and has really taken off. The quote I heard on NPR was that palestinian girls no longer want to play with barbie type toys, but rather have started playing with 'boys war toys'. As far as understanding how you could do this, if you really were stupid enough to believe that God wanted you to kill yourself for him, and nobody'd ever taught you any critical reasoning skills, it might make sense for you to want the same and be proud of your children. It's natural for every parent to want their child to go to heaven, right?
otto -- yeah..but martyrdom isn't the ONLY way to heaven in the Muslim faith tradition...and by the way..who's to say she's muslim at all?? i have a client who is a Palestinian Christian...there are more than a few. I don't even know the girl in the picture is Palestinian...the picture is from a rally in Berlin. This is just some psychopath who thinks suicide bombers are swell...so he decides his daughter should pose as one. Hey, real clever....jackass!

Just an additional piece of information. The guy in the picture will probably be kicked out of Germany. "To abuse children as symbols for glorifying murder and to promote terrorists' actions is absolutely not tolerable", German Federal Minister of the Interior Otto Schily said in a statement. "People who glorify violence like that are not tolerated in Germany." This type of behavior can be a reason for compulsory execution of the obligation to leave Germany and the German Ministry of the Interior is currently examining the legal situation.
All this got to show you that after the Israeli brutal incursion the moderate Palestinians becoming extremists and the extremists becoming more so. Way to go Sharon He is creating more violence. He has to go.
