Normally I don't start many threads about games, especially PS2 games, but since most of you with a PS2 probably haven't heard about it, I think it may be worth a thread. It's basically a SRPG (strategy role playing game) with a ton of extra stuff to do. If you ever played Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre, you'll recognize the battle system. I've only played it for 10 hours, so I can't give a full review, but I think it's much deeper and more entertaining than all of the other SRPGs I've played. Has anyone else picked up a copy? I know very few were shipped, as is the case with most games published by Atlus. If you've played it let me know what you think, or if you have any questions on the game, please ask away (I'm by no means an expert on the game). B
I have one on reserve, I'll get it soon. It's a tactics game, and it's by Atlus, so those are two positives for me. Of course, FF Tactics Advance is coming out soon, and currently NCAA, Madden, Soul Calibur 2 and F-ZERO are eating away at what little free time I have.
I picked it up but have only been able to play for an hour or so. So far I've liked it but haven't been able spend the time to really get into it. Hopefully I'll be able to play if over the weekend.
I'm coming out of my shell after playing this game for 16 hours the past two days. Since I want to get back to playing the game, all I have to say is if you are obsessive about your RPGs, be very careful with this game, since it's easy to spend hours perfecting your group the way you want. All, it can be quite humorous at times, especially if you appreciate Japanese humor. Well, I hope my girlfriend doesn't kill me for spending most of the holiday weekend with my PS2. B
Seems like my school classes will keep me too busy to play many games, especially when the Rockets start, but if I ever get some free time, I'll try to check this game out. Seems pretty cool, and it is kind of hard to find good SRPG's. Hope it isn't too rare though. I may forget about it and then remember in like December but not be able to find it.
I've noticed you can get things passed easier when you have a much higher influence. Don't try to pass things like increased movement or counterattack too early in the game, unless you feel like doing a lot of bribing. Also, it's not worth attacking senators to get a vote passed, because they will loathe you on the next vote, making every vote after that a challenge. B
I've been playing for about 75 hours total now, and I'm only on episode 11. Has anyone here beat it yet? Maybe I'm spending too much time with the item world and building up my characters, cause I'd thought I'd have beat the game by now. B
I've played for about 40 hours and just started episode 9. I've only been through about 30 levels in the item world (the first 10 levels for three items), and spent some time leveling up different characters to get new jobs. I think from here on I'll try to go straight through and beat it, then do all the extra stuff at a casual pace. It's kind of depressing seeing people talk about getting characters to level 4000 when I've spent 40 hours getting mine to level 33. It seems that once you get the cave of trials open you can power level pretty quickly though.
Sounds like I should just focus on the game then and worry about leveling later. My characters about in the 40s, and I thought I'd try to get them in the 50s or 60s before going further, but if I can get in the thousands later, I don't think 10 levels will make much of a difference. B
Lord....levels in the 1000s?!? I've only had the game a couple days, and have only opened up 4 episodes....but I've been doing a lot of character creating and building. Going back and building them up. IS it really that easy to get into the 1000s? The senate makes me angry. I can't even get 'belt inventory' or whatever passed. What kind of army have you guys got together? Are you building up a big base, or going with a small group that you reuse?
I haven't played my PS2 that much in a long time... man, things have gotten too busy for me....or maybe I played WAY TOO MUCH of it during the summer so that i am sick of it.... I also dont feel like using $50 bucks on a game... I think when the rockets season starts i wont be able to waste too much more time...on games. Damn... I will stock up on games this fall...since I will be paying around $3 per game...
I'm not sure how easy it is, it seems that in the cave of trials, which I haven't been able to get to yet because the Senate won't open it, you are able to level very quickly, then when the enemies are too easy you petition to have the Senate make them harder. I've been mostly using the same group and when they get around level 20 and there is a new class I transmigrate them. The group I have now I'm going to just keep leveling until I can level up the new ones very quickly. The Senate is kind of annoying, there's no way you can carry enough items to bribe them all so if they are against you your pretty much screwed. If you take the promotion exams your influence goes up which helps a lot.
If you guys want to level up faster you should be playing around with the item world stuff. I've heard residents help a lot. If you get 300 statiticians together it will triple the amount of experiece you recieve. There's also other residents. Manager I think raises the mana you recieve, there's one for $$$, ones for regular stats, like hit and attack, and other junk such as ailment immunities. Anyway, I've just been buying items with at least 12-20 stat residents, saving, then going to the first level of item world and quiting and loading until the resident I want appears on the 1st level, kick his butt, then use mr. gency's exit and combine residents. I almost have 150 statiticians already (btw, after you beat them the stat bonus doubles). The only thing that sucks is that you'll start running out of mr. gency's, but you can just start skipping levels til you get to the 10th and nab one(skipping makes no diff from clearing, but I at least always kill the item general). And leveling items kicks arse. I leveled up Dark Rosary and my imperial seals as much as possible to use on leveling up my weak characters. So far 15 hours into the game I have Laharl leveled up to 35, a few others to 30, and the rest around 20. Have only transmigrated one person so far. I love the lift/toss command. Esp useful to combine monsters to gain more exp and to get through item world w/o having to really fight forever.
I beat the game! 89 hours of my life gone, and it looks like I'm going to try the new game cycle. Has anyone else beat it yet? I think I got one of the bad endings. B
I just bought this. Any starting out advice, like what items to buy or what to request from the Senate, etc.? And how do you do the whole "item world" thing?
