I was at the game tonight, remarkable win for the good guys, but come on, the fans started to BOO with 3 seconds to go in the game, because they were not going to get their free Big Mac. Come on, the thing costs but like 50 cents anyways, I am sure they can afford one after paying for tickets and parking.

I saw that as well. One question tho...

Why were the Hornets still trying to foul with about 10 seconds left? Even the announcers were making fun of the fact there are no 11 point plays in the NBA :D

Maybe they were trying to score the booing fans some burgers, and the Rockets organization did not want them to score the fans burgers, so thats why the Rockets ran the clock down, to avoid the Team paying McDonalds a bit of money

It wasnt as bad as the Clippers game back in December, the boos were WAY louder and the had 99 FREAKIN pts, with Bostjan dribbling the ball away. Plus I liked how Francis did the no gesture to fans when they were booing. I taped the game, and you couldnt really hear the boos as it was far worse at the game.

I am with everybody else, be happy its a win, if they score 100 or get the opponent to score lower than 80, than thats a plus. No need to boo your team.

Yeah, they probably should stop doing those stupid promotions. I don't think anyone decides to go to a game based on whether or not they will get a chance to win a burger...and if your goal is to make them stay 'til the end drinking YanJing beer and waiting on the 100th point, any Big Mac-crazed lunatic can still leave and just check the radio for the score on the way home. Tim?

I don't think ppl really means any harm in it. Most ppl that booed probably wont even redeemed the big macs. It's just all part of the game atomsphere, when you get close to 100 poitns, the buzz and excitement starts, and when you fail to get it, the whiplash is too hard to handle so you let out a little anger. It's what makes games great in person.

;I don't know, I am a loud fan. I make people 10 rows infront of me turn around to see who the yelling idiot is. (me)

    I wouldn't boo over a bigmac....please.

I would be too busy screaming over the win.

Anyways, you are right though. I mean, the fans get caught up in the moment/excitement. It's not really anything to complain about. I could carelesss if the final 2 secs was a booo.. As long as we win.

The fans would get into this much more if they got a burger for holding opponents below 75 points, or a certain percentage (40% maybe).

That way, the Rockets have some increased incentive to break the Spurs record, they continue to play damn good defense, and the fans give us the motivation we need to play D.

The free Big Mac promotion also applies when holding the opponent under 80.

For the record, McDonald's loves it when the Rockets score 100 (or hold opponents under 80) and the free Big Mac offer gets activated. It's a lot of positive attention for them. And no, it doesn't cost the organization anything extra when McDonald's does the giveaway.

They're a good partner. They even helped us promote our $69 Family Pack for last night's game.

That all said, Coach isn't going to tell the team to go for the extra basket when the game is already decided just to get the promotion activated. He's focused on winning games, and there's a decorum that the coaches and players usually try to maintain -- when the other team throws in the towel (like last night, when the Hornets chose to stop fouling), you don't rub it in by running up the score. I respect that.

    LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE

I was at the game - the "boo's" were NOT the standard negative boos - they were more like fun, playful "ah... come on guys" - people were smiling and laughing the whole time !

I don't eat Bog Macs, and I would bet you very few people actaully cash those things in - but it is just a kind of game within the game that makes the fans feel a little more connected to what is happening on the floor.

Maybe they should have something healthier than fast food as a reward - like maybe a cheep t-shirt or something
