A lottery season this year may turn out not to be bad at all. Yao should recover well for next year's championship run. It will be a long season but I am betting Houston will get its reward next year. Boy, what a bummer this news about Yao is.
Hawks are looking like the most likely team for a S&T at the moment. They have excess centers in Zaza & David Andersen. They only have 6 players under contract.
Agreed 100%. It annoys me that some are so willing and eager to let a breakout player like Von just walk out the door. GM's included. Edit: Just read NIKEstrad's thread on the topic. I guess we're not allowed to split the exception on two players. $6M per year for Wafer is way too pricey.
So they could take back more salary than they send right? We could give them Battier and Hayes and Cook or Barry for Zaza + a first? They agree to S&T Zaza for around $3.5million, so we shed around $8million in salary, and they get some needed depth in Battier + Hayes. Dunno if that's what they would have in mind for their cap space this off-season though... But they'd still be in a reasonable position to do something with their cap space next summer!
Why would we want to spend on money on Bass to play 5 do you think we really want to even more undersized by signing a 6'8 guy?
Channing Fyre? Chris Andersen? Gortat? (maybe he could backstab the Mavs) Zaza? Ryan Hollins? Johan Petro? Bass? Millsap? Those are some bigs that could be worth signing. Some guards that would help our offense would be: Wafer, Rodney Carney, Rashad McCants, Kleiza, or Flip Murray. http://www.nba.com/freeagents/2009/
The season is not a lost season yet. Granted that Yao and possibly Tmac wont play this season, this team is so resilient that a playoffs spot is very possible. There are moves yet to be made.
Why not....... Do you think this Rockets team have any ounce of quit in them There found away to do some damage to sneak into the playoffs
Because I do not want anyone on this list, unless we got Gortat of course. Brandon Bass is a guy that has all-star potential, a 7-2 wingspan, a knack for rebounding, and a jumpshot. And on top of all that, he is a good, hard-working kid. No other free agent can bring that type of pedigree or potential to be a life long Rocket... Zaza and Wafer would be decent too, but I for one, think Brandon Bass would be a steal.... Where do I sign? Maybe we can gather up some contracts and grab Tyson too?
I do agree with you. The top 3 bigs I would want the most would be Gortat, Millsap, and Bass. Millsap had the huge streak of double doubles when Boozer was out (sucks he's a Jazz) and Bass does have a lot of potential.
They can match if Millsap is offered another contract because he's restricted and this allows them to go over the cap ala Landry last year
Wow, If that is the case, we should shoot high.... We need to get the best young player available, regardless of position. For the future and future assets...I would like it to be a bigger body though.
Yessir, I adamantly agree. All of the other "Bigs" would be one year rentals. If we can get a proven big that is the age of a rookie, I think you HAVE to do it. Assets, Assets, Assets. You can't have enough of them. Also, Bass and Milsap would fit an Adelman fast tempo very well, I believe.
They're in LT hell because Boozer, Okur, and Korver did not opt out. They're so desperate they're leaking stories like Rockets offered McGrady for AK47.
