I was just about to type this when I saw your post. This series matches the 2 biggest floppers in the NBA today.
Raja Bell should be in the nba's all-flop first team as well G - Manu Ginobili G - Derek Fisher F - Raja Bell F - Dirk Nowitzki C - Ben Wallace (Great defensive player, but has been known to flop and embellish a bit)
You must have not actually listened to his comments about Stack. He was speaking softly and almost laughing about it since the Mavs won. He wasn't chewing out anybody.
The flop strikes again... after a FREE THROW attempt no less, Finely just tries to get some space, Dirk goes FLYING, and Finley gets called for a tech. Maybe instead of big-man camps, they should have flop camps.
I think I've discovered the key to Dirk's flopping... when he draws contact, he never comes close to trying to make the shot, as he accentuates his arms, flails his legs, and the ball goes flying somewhere off in the stands. This makes it hard for the ref to NOT call a foul. Now, take Tim Duncan, Shaq, Lebron, Elton Brand, Yao Ming, or any other player who doesn't flop. They're always trying to MAKE the shot... regardless of contact. Thus, when they draw contact, they keep their form as stable as possible in order to give them the best chance of actually making the shot, despite the apparent foul. Unfortunately, the ref sees a quality shot attempt, and a lack of "dislodging", and decides that it wasn't enough contact to warrant a foul call. However, guys like Lebron, Yao, Duncan and Shaq do get several "and 1's", whereas floppers will never have this opportunity... so they do get a little redemption in the end.
I concur with you completely. It drives me insane when they flap their arms around and make it look like they got hit by a mack truck, all the whilst not even trying to take the shot :/
The more I watch this series, the more I am convinced we need James plus Spanoulis, plus another tall rangy swingman that can shoot the 3 ball to go along with McGrady, Head, and Rafer on the perimeter. We need to acquire 4 players: James, Spanoulis, and another taller SG that can shoot the 3 and defend along with a better defending and shooting power forward.
Another game won by the Mavs thanks to the Refs. After last year's debacle against the Rockets, I'm starting to see a pattern when it comes to Playoff Refs and the Mavs...
It all points to Cuban's influence. If that foul isn't called, there's video tapes sent to head office, a bunch of stats consisting of bad calls against Dallas sent to head office and another rant on his blog. The ref's fear that punk.
Did you guys see the call on Bowen with 8 sec. left? Redicoulous call....They should make this call when SPURS playing at home, and David Stern is also in the building, I think fans would just throw all the shiz down to the ref and kidnapp Stern.
Yeah, this game (game 4) should not have even gone to overtime. Bowen didn't come close to fouling Dirk the Vag considering the Vagina was shoving Bowen with his off arm the ENTIRE time. The Spurs should have won. Dick Bavetta is a terrible official. Maybe he was good in the past but these last couple of years, he's absolutely terrible. There comes a time when a scrawny myopic geezer has to admit that he's a scrawny myopic geezer and no longer an NBA ref. When the rest of the refs have been giving Yao respect, Dick still calls that ticky tack BS on him. Dick calls that ticky tack BS on Shaq too. An absolute disgrace for an official.
That's only half the problem. The other part is what happened to JVG last May with the $100K fine plus the threat of expulsion from the league. Popovich can't dare even attempt to work the officials about what's happening to Duncan because there's the intimidation from the JVG incident last year. What Cuban does in and of itself isn't that bad... but I suspect it can be when there's no other argument presented to it and effectively that's what the league has done. If the NBA ever wants to make this problem better, they need to stop treating officials like little kids and have them accountable for the job they do. Not having players and coaches scared to death to speak their minds would be a start.
you can add Varejao as the sixth man ... as a famous coach said : "I am so sick of watching that guy flop I can't stand it. It is an absolute disgrace"
