Desagana Diop sounds awesome. Too bad Rudy & co. are biased against unproven hs players.

Man would I love for the Rockets to make a move and go after this guy. He has the body to play in the NBA and the tools needed (rebounding,block-shots,defense,& offense(needs work)).

He just might be better than Cato! [IMG]

OK, now I have no idea how good this kid is\can be! [IMG]

I mean, comparing him to a $6 million zombie is not a satisfactory barometer. [IMG]

i hate to say but people r making too big a deal out of this guy. 14.6 ppg at the varsity level is very mediocre for college.. must less the NBA. 8 blocks and 13.2 Rbs is awesome but i mean its vs. high school talent. i see a yinka dare deja vu coming.

    Damn! Only 14.6/13.2!?!?!?!

There are a ton of high schoolers that average that...! (not a ton...but you get my drift)

Big men aren't as effective at the highschool level scoring wise, because defenses just swarm them. That's not to say he might not be good offensively, just that his offensive stats aren't a good barameter.

His main knock was being raw on offense, but he is a good rebounder and a terrific shotblocker.

I could really care less if the Rockets drafted a center without any offensive skills. As long as he can play good D, rebound, and outlet get him. He can acquire offensive skills over time, but he could make a defensive impact on a team as a rookie.

You can't teach size. If he has quick feet and a SOLID work ethic (and he's available) bring him on!!

    (Unfortunately, the Rocks won't!).

The guy only played a year and a half and he ended up w/ those numbers. I read somewhere that his potential is higher than either Curry or Brown... Curry again is the 'baby shaq'. I wouldn't be too disappointed if the Rockets traded to 5 - 8 and picked him up at all.

Didn't this guy absolutely dominate Chandler and Curry in different games ?

I'm not sure a project type player would help the Rockets. I don't knwo, I wish these kids would go to college so that we can see them develop. T-mac and Kg are anomallies. Not every high schooler will play like them.

What is the general consensus as to when he will go in the draft? Would it be possible to pick up Diop at our 13 pick, or will he go much earlier than that?

Raven...I doubt he would fall that far, to be honest...my mock has him at 4 just on physical attributes alone and what I've heard about the guy. At the high school matchups with Chandler and Curry, one scout compared Diop to a Shaq with free-throw touch, but that was after just one game. Difference is, I don't know if Diop will be able to contribute immediately, whereas I think Curry will.

P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

I have a feeling that Diop will be a top 4 pick before its all said and done. He is already being projected in the top 10 and is said to have good agility and a soft touch around the basket but just needs to work on his post moves and all around offensive game as it is raw. However, he is a very good rebounder and defender along with being a colossal 7-0 300 pounds.

This is early to call, but if there are no more major declarations (Williams, Brown, etc), I could see Curry, Chandler, Griffin and Diop really separate themselves from the rest of the pack and forming a talented but inexperienced top 4.

He's a lottery pick without question. How high he goes depends no how well he does in his individual workouts.
