I''m looking for a small digital camera which takes good pics in low light situations. Usually that doesn't work out too well because the smaller the camera the worse the flash etc. Anyhow, I'm looking at these 3 1) Fuji Finepix Z1 2) Canon SD 300 3) Canon SD 500 I've read on line that #2 is good as well as #3. #1 is just below them. However the Canons seem a little big. Does anyone here have any experience with any of these cameras? If so, then please post.
Unfortunately, built-in flashes on small cameras are horrific. In low-light settings, the only way to get decent shots is to have a better flash and camera. Low light is just tough, period.
Have you considered getting a DSLR? The Canon Digital Rebel XT ($900) with a 50mm/f1.4 lens ($329) will serve you VERY well in low-light situations without having to use a flash.
canon sd400 is badass. stay away from the kodak cameras. they are known to make **** cameras. i will attest to that personally
These are the camera's I have on my short list Nikon Coolpix S1 Canon IXUS 700 (SD 500) (this one's on the ultra short list...) Fuji FinePix Z1 - link 2
I got a little Panasonic/Leica (FX7) last year and have been real happy with it. I don't know anything about cameras so I used that dcresource website (the one 'thegary' mentioned) to pick it out. That website is real helpful. I think some of the Pentax models (s4 Optio?) look pretty nice too.
I am looking at the Konico Minolta G600. 6 megapixel at a great price($250 on some online websites, 400 or more at stores). I cant recommend it because I have not bought it yet. But if anyone knows about this camera....please tell.
/thanks for the suggestions. I'm leaning toward maybe the SD400 because it will fit in my pocket. I looked at that Sony T33, but my friend has one, and I've seen the pictures in low light, and I was not impressed.
Sony DSCP200 7.2 Megapixels...i think i saw a good deal on it on deals2buy.com it comes from dell in this deal.....I have the camera it kicks ass
I know you don't want to spend a lot, but I just wanted to say that I took over 400 photos at the Houston Press Music Awards Showcase last night - all in incredibly low light - and got some AMAZING pictures with my D70 and SB600 flash.
actually i have one of the first canon's made in 1998 or 1999 . It was huge! But I would just like a camera that I can take out on the town and take somewhat decent pics.
I got the Dimage x50 for a grad present and it's light exposure as a small camera is horrific. I've read similar reviews for all small cameras such as the canon SD series. Benchmoochie, it depends on your preference for camera size or photo quality. With small cameras, the photo quality is a real issue in large indoor settings where light exposure varies with each shot. If you're taking the outdoor dayshots, small cameras are excellent and portable. Night shots and indoor shots are usually prone with noise.
