I bought a Sony Cybershot digital cam this weekend and everytime that I try hooking it up to my computer (Sony Vaio laptop) I get the following message: "The file 'SONYPVU1.SYS' on Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM is needed". I have already tried installing the USB driver (although it was'nt necessary). And I don't have a Windows XP Home Edtion CD-ROM since my comp came with XP already installed. Can any of you tech heads help a brotha out?
Yea, mines came with a CD too. It has some picture package software, the USB driver installation thing and a tutorial. But it keeps asking me for a "SONYPVU1.SYS" file and it's driving me nuts.
As soon as I plug my cam "Found New Hardware- Sony DSC" pops up on the toolbar and then I get this: "The file 'SONYPVU1.SYS' on Windows XP Home Edition CD-Rom is needed."
Here are the latest drivers (if it helps): http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/sony-digital.html When I get home I'll dig into my XP home CD and see if I have a copy of that file. -- droxford
I tried installing the latest driver and still no luck . doxford I would really appreciate it if you check and see if you have a copy of that freakin' file it keeps asking me for
not to be mean, but I find this HI-LARIOUS!! A Sony camera that doesn't work with a Sony computer. That's rich....
Here: http://www.houstongolfcourses.net/transfer/SONYPVU1.SYS I think there's one other file you're gonna need (don't remember the name of it). Don't be surprised. -- droxford
Very cool. I can't tell you how many times I have run into a problem like the one you had. I'm glad to hear that it worked. -- droxford
