Oh, man... I had a double whammy... I thought I had read "DESIGNATED" and "HITLER". American league sucks ass.
baseball is baseball. the same 9 guys who are fielding positions should be the same 9 guys who are in the batting lineup. the AL games with the incessant pitching changes, with no real consequences, bore me to tears. baseball is awesome...but 4 hour games suck.
For me seeing that G.O.A.T Rappers thread, at first I thought it was a country music thread GOAT ROPERS.
There is more to having a pitcher bat than just getting to see a bad hitter. It's the decisions surrounding having a pitcher bat that makes the National league more fun to watch.
Agreed! (and i'm an American League guy). The rational that pitchers can't hit is silly. Then why not let the team choose one of their fielders to sit out of the batting rotation? Concern over protecting the pitcher from revenge pitches -- again -- both team pitchers would have to bat -- so offsets! Resting the pitcher's arm? -- same situation for both teams --- let them play! As max said, would make strategy more interesting if the pitcher strategy affected batting rotation.
My too Fave Sports are Basketball and Football so I tend to compare to those Football you have two seperate teams Offense and Defense - Rare folx play both sides Basketball is like one team playing bother ways I always thought of Baseball like basketball you gotta play both ways. This would be like us taking pike out everytime we went on Defense. . and Cato out everytime we were on offense . . . It works in baseball because it has that break and it is not disruptive like it would be in basketball . . . Make the pitcher HIT I mean he only plays ONCE every 5 games?!?!?!?!?!?! Pitchers maybe as protected as QBs in the NLF [Roughing the passer?!?!?!?!?!?!] Rocket River
Given the Astros are in the NL, I think this poll's gonna end up a little skewed. Ask this question in Chicago or NY and you'll probably have a better idea of what people like/dislike. That said, NL all the way!
The DH SUX....Basball is a game of stratagey--AL teams have a luxury in offense that isn't afforded to NL teams; no worries about double-switches, fine tunning the bottom of the order, pinch-hitting....
Well, crap I just voted for the wrong one in the AL..... I am an AL guy (unless it is the Yankees), but I like the strategy that is involved more with NL games than AL ones. Plus it seems there are more 1-0 and 2-1 games in the NL than the AL and I prefer those games over the 15-14 ones any day.
Couldn't agree more, and what Max said! The DH is a travesty... a boil on the butt of major league baseball. Do away with it!
I agree there is "some" strategy, but waiting until your pitcher is out of gas and gets up to bat to let some utility .200 player take his at bat doesn't make it any more exciting.
I've never really followed baseball too closely, so I'm aware of the DH rule and I know what it means... but can someone explain to me how it ruins the strategy of the game and all that?
