just made his second spectacular play of this series. He goes head over heels into the stands for the second out in the 8th inning. In game three he made a sick play with a backhanded toss to home plate to save a run.

...is the most overrated shortstop ever. If he was a Marlin instead of a Yankee, we'd be saying, "Derek who>:

no way... the guy has the most hits of anyone in post season history.. makes 2 spectacular plays that likely won them both games. to call him the most overrated is extreme

I guess the 87 hits he has already gotten in postseason to break the all time record are mere accidents?

I guess his spectacular game saving plays are by accidents?

The dude is like what 26 years old and has 4 championship rings. Accident right?

Just because you hate a team or a player it does not mean you have to take away from their accomplishments. I hate the Lakers but I am not going to be dumb enough to say "If Shaq was on the Grizzlies we would be asking Shaq who?" I hate the Packers but I am not going to be idiotic enough to say "Favre who".

Hate him or love him. Anyone with brains would have to agree that Jeter is already one of the greatest to ever play the game. Especially in the postseason!

jeter is amazing..and let's not forget, john mcmullen passed on him with the astros first pick because he wasn't willing to pay what Jeter's agent was demanding...instead we took phil nevin. I love the 'stros to death, but Derek Jeter is the exact opposite of everything the astros represent. when it counts most, derek jeter performs bigtime!

Derek Jeter is the 4th best shortsop in the American League.

He's got a strong arm, but he doesn't have great range on defense.

He's not a terribly great hitter, if he played for the Marlins, we would be saying "Derek who?", much like most of America is probably saying "Cliff who?" right now . . .

Oh, and that Game 3 play, the ball would've made it to the plate anyway in time to beat the runner, with Jeter tossing it, the runner was safe at the plate.

    That's insane, just insane.

And one last thing - Jeff Bagwell reached base 8 times in a three game series, Derek Jeter reached base 9 times in a five game series.

    Spread the hate man!

    Fourth best! LOL :D

He might not have the numbers that Garciaparra and Alex put up, but the man defines CLUTCH!

    Fourth best

Surprising how hatred for the Yankees will devoid some people of all common sense.

Could you tell me who are these 3 AL shortstops better than Jeter?

The best I can do is ARod.

A-Rod, Garciaparra and Tejada are all SS's I would take over Jeter right now, either because they are better right now(A-Rod, Garciaparra) or because I think the will be much better long term(Tejada)

Nomar and you can make a case for Tejada.

    In addition to A-Rod.

Garcaparra? Too fragile. Good numbers when healthy, missed most of last 2 seasons.

    Tejada? .267 avg? a whopping 20 errors?

    Shame on you pood;)

Garciaparra missed most of this year with a wrist injury, he did play 140 games last year. And when he does play, his play is much better than Jeter's.

Batting Average, Bah, I scoff at Batting Average. Shame on you Mr. Finn, for quoting Batting Average at me ;)

Tejada isn't as good as Jeter right now, though its close, but in the future I believe he will hit for far more power than Jeter.

I stand by my judgements Mr. Finn.

Jeter had 15 in 12 less games. Wow, he's such a better defensive player.

That is why the A's are sitting home right now, errors.

In 12 less games Jeter scored 8 more runs than Tejada and had an average 44 points higher than Miguel.

I think NOmar and Derek are a wash, but Derek is rarely injured, so I would go with him.

Tejada is a better power hitter, but Jeter would have never made that base running error. Haven is gonna hate me for saying this, but Jeter is CLUTCH if there were such a thing in baseball.

BTW, I hope none of you Yankee fans would take Jeter over A-rod?? That would be insane.

REally? I knew we passed on Hammonds, but I didn't realize Jeter was as highly touted.

Replace Lugo with Jeter and we would be the ones losing to the big unit in game 1. :D

Don't forget to mention that Tejada had 39 more RBI's than Jeter.
