The key phrase was "The point is you don't NEED a guy like that to be a great team". Meaning, I don't think Boston has a guy that can come off the bench and be Ginobli. And thats kind of where I was going with our depth. We don't have that Ginobli type of player that can come off the bench and change the tempo of the game, but we have 3-4 bench players (Barry, Battier, Landry, and to a lesser extent Hayes and Head) that are really solid. And I don't think there are that many teams out there that can say that.

I think what's going to be important this year is point guard play and the bench and besides health. If we take the health factor out of play and just look at those two there.

Bench will have to produce. The bench does really great during the regular season but once playoffs comes, there's no one to be found. This is going to be key. Especially if we lose a key player. When KG went down for nine games, The Celtics went 7-2 because of the bench.

If Rafer plays like he did last year, the Rockets should be solid. We all saw what happened in the playoffs when Rafer wasn't there. The problem that will come up is that isn't a back up for Rafer. Please don't tell me Head is going to take over or Brooks. I love Brooks and he is a great dude but size will kill him. Chris Paul is undersize but the skill levels are totally different. T-Mac shouldn't be playing the point but more than likely that's going to happen.

Not many teams have a top 5 2G like Ginobili coming off the bench. Our depth is fine except and PG and C.

Everyone has good depth until they start having injuries.

The point I was trying to make was that its not about the quality, its about the quantity. The Spurs have Ginobli coming off the bench, but can you name 3 other players on that bench that are worth anything? Houston doesn't have a Ginobli type player off the bench, but they have 3-4 solid bench role players.

My post was not an argument but a statement(about Ginobili). We have as good or better depth than any team in the league as long as we are healthy.

If healthy, (assuming Battier is starting) our only needed bench players are:

Ron Ron 1st - takes minutes from Battier, TMac, Scola
Landry 2nd - takes minutes from Scola and lets Scola spell yao
Barry 3rd - Takes minutes from Alston and TMac

We don't need anyone else if we stay healthy.
