Democrats- I need help... Do you guys know where I could find a "Re-elect Gore in 2004" bumper sticker? My "Gore/Lieberman 2000" sticker is getting a little old. Thanks.
i thought this was another anti-liberal post saying "Democrats need help" (as in psychological help). anyway, sorry i haven't seen any. I don't think Gore will be the guy anyway.
I don't think he will either, but I still want to show my liberal leanings to the b*stard behind me who refuses to turn off his high-beams!
Did yo uguys ever read a book by Douglas Adams? I don't remembver which one, but he wrote "A Republican couldn't enjoy his steak dinner unless he knew someone else was starving or couldn't afford it." Something like that, not exactly that quote of course. Of course, a Democrat wouldn't allow a Republican to enjoy his dinner, unless he knew someone else was enjoying thier steak dinner on another person's money.
That would be one of the Hitchiker's Guide (to the Galaxy) books, gr8-1. There are 3 that I know of (Adams also wrote 2 other mystery-scifi-comedies, but that's your best bet - the Hitchiker's Guide) ZRB - if you're looking for Al w**** to run in 2004, you need to get a pair of ceramic balls. Hillary's going to have that ticket, with the full intention of losing. They'll win the House that year but lose the Presidency - intentionally. Winning Congress is far more important. Hillary will run and win in 2008, and Gore will be VP again. This is all pretty much preordained
5 books The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy The Restaurant at the End of the Universe Life, the Universe, and Everything So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish Mostly Harmless plus 1 short story Young Zaphod Plays It Safe
Yes, it's all coming back to me now - - The mad dash off planet Earth as it gets swept aside for a intergalactic superhighway by aliens (the Babel fish) - The meeting with God in his hut, realizing that he's a broken-down has-been, and the concert at the end of the universe (the little torture-container that shows the victim "All" in a brief microsecond) - The inhabitants of Krikit, and the deadly robot apocalypse that they unleashed on the universe - The Dolphins' role in human history. And why the whale fell out of the sky. Also, the explanation for the single potted plant that fell without the whale. - The totally absurd ending: Zaphod (a two-headed universal president/playboy) helps save earth, which he doesn't care about in the first place, and Arthur (the only "good-guy-earthling" in the whole saga) stops the evil Highway Authority from plowing through his house, and gets to have a beer in his favorite pub. It takes him 3 books and several years to get it... Mostly Harmless and So Long, and Thanks for all the Fish are two semi-connected works that have a couple of the same characters but are not the same narrative, and are therefore totally disconnected from the original Hitchiker Guide series. If you act now you can get all 5 books in a single volume, limited edition. (mine is only 6 years old!). Just be warned that carbon monoxide fumes may be hazardous to your health. Very good series, and I highly recommend it to any non-Christians with a sense of humor.
I think Daschle's going to be on the ticket in 2004, but Bush will probably be re-elected for lack of a better candidate.
I'll start this by saying I am Republican and this is a serious question: Do Democrats LIKE Daschle? He doesn't seem to be electable to me. The ticket to watch for Bush to watch is McCain/Kerrey after McCain switches parites OR they choose to run as independants.
Bobrek, I like McCain, and would seriously consider voting for him. Very reasonable guy with moderate views, and does not care about taking sh*t from his fellow party members. As far as Daschle goes, don't know too much about him. Think he's the Senate Majority WHIP from South Dakota so he's more than qualified. More personality than Gore, though that's not saying alot.
You can make one yourself at www.bumperart.com this is where I made my "Don't blame me, I voted for Gore - I think" bumper sticker
I would love to see Al Gore win the whitehouse... but I believe right now that McCain or Ventura's charisma will make the field completely unpredictable (in a fun way). I personally think that McCain has the power to create a new Republican party. He could bring back the Liberal Republicans for that matter. Just as the centrists democrats abandoned the liberals, I expect the moderate republicans to eventually shrug off the power of the conservatives. The conservatives in the republican party have seemed to be arrogant this past cycle, according to Specter, Snowe, etc. Ventura.... who wouldn't want a debate between Ventura and the other two parties? He calls it like he sees it.
I would vote for McCain over Gore. Only thing is that the right-wing of the Republican party would never nominate someone so moderate, even though it might give them more votes in a national election. Oh, and the 2 "mystery-sci fi-comedies" are Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and Long, Dark Teatime of the Soul. Both highly recommended. Douglas Adams, RIP.
McCain is NOT going to be a democrat. I do hope he get's in there as a indy because he would force the candidates to deal with real issues. Hillary has no chance in 04. I hope Gore doesn't fare too well in the primaries either. Hillary and Gore have too much baggage and their personalities/public persona do not lend themselves to winning over more middle roaders. It is a sad commentary that "likeability" plays such a factor with some people in favoring one politician over another, but it does. I would feel confident that some combination of Daschle, Edwards or Feinstein would beat Bush. It is ok if Daschle is a little boring, you just don't want to be boring while unauthentically trying to take a different personas, like Gore.
Is it just me or does McCain seem more like a VP than a President? Someone that bombastic, IMO, might have a hard time getting anything done. I still wish Powell would run. He's probably my favorite of the bunch up there even though he is a republican. I would love to finally see a minority or a woman in the white house. 51% of the population is female and yet we can't manage to elect one?
i think Powell has too many skeletons in his closet that he doesn't want to come out. why else would he not run in 96 or 00 when he was still a hot commodity. al sharpton is considering running for president , you can vote for him jeff
Good luck finding people to laugh at your bumper sticker, ZRB. If Gore's constituents couldn't read a ballot, how are they supposed to be able to read a bumper sticker?
Honestly, all I want is a place to find freakin' political bumper stickers! I didn't want to start a debate! Does anyone know a website that sells bumper stickers?
