Fox doesnt know anything. When I saw him , he looked 6'9 to me. Dermarr is a guy that causes matchup problems for alot of teams. A 6'9 player that can play 3 positions on the court is amazing. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
A 6'9 player that can play 3 positions on the court is amazing. What 3 positions does Johnson play? He's certainly not a PG and he's way too thin to play PF. ------------------
Pg, Sg, and SF. He did play a little PG in Cincinnati sometimes. He has great ballhandling skills. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
Dermarr cant really play 3 positions effectively yet. He'll play SG pretty well, but I dont know about PG or SF. Even though he played PG sometimes in Cincinnati, I heard that Walt Williams also played PG sometimes while he was playing for Maryland. And I don't really want Walt playing PG in the pros, cuz his ball handling skills and penetration arent that great... but they are OK. That doesnt mean that Dermarr is going to be like Walt, but just cuz u played some PG in college doesnt mean you can play pg in da pros. Also, everyone says Dermarr is a lil too thin for SF. We could only play him as SF when the other team has some scrub out there. ------------------ treasurer of the moochie norris fan club [This message has been edited by alaskansnowman (edited June 16, 2000).]
Demarr is also only 20 with one year of college play. He'll likely fill out his body to become big and strong enough to play the 3. But that is about 2 years away. ------------------
What's probably going to happen is he'll play SG on offense with his shooting skills, and guard the SF becuase of his size. From that report, you KNOW DerMarr is one of the finalists for the #9 pick. Teams commonly release unaccurate info to guarantee their player will be available at their spot. ------------------ Check out the new and improved Draftsource.net
Not to take anything away from Demarr Johnson but playing 3 positions in college does not mean he will do it in the pros. Jamal Mashburn played 5 positions in college at different time and in the pros he plays almost exclusively small forward and probably occasionally the shooting guard position. As far as the height goes I would bet they probably said it wrong. I heard it but I would bet it is closer to 6-9 than 6-6. ------------------
I care if it pushes Mobley out the door!!! Mobley is a d*mn good player! I find it crazy how cavalier some people are about Mobley leaving! I would be in favor of trading Walt Williams however. ------------------
I agree with Francis3, when I got to see DerMarr play, he looked 6-9 or very close to it. What also sounded fishy on that report was that they said something like "DerMarr Johnson is a 6-6 swingman; the Rockets project him to play small forward." Something does not add up there. Anyways, I agree that DerMarr should be able to add the necessary bulk to play the 3. The question is, will the Cavs blunder this pick like they blundered the Maggete one? Will they go for Tskalidis or Alexander instead? Also, will this push Mobley out the door, and do we really care if it does? It is going to be a real tough choice between Johnson and Moiso. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
