No, it's not the end of the world, and yes, we still have a chance to win..

Adelman obviously knows more than all of us combined, but here's what I am wondering:

why is Deke starting against the Jazz? I really don't like his matchup with Boozer because Bruiser is just too quick for him and he can just hit the 12 footer all day.. I know that Deke is great at protecting the paint, but we still got owned with layups and backdoor cuts.. I want Deke's minutes to be matched with Boozer's backup minutes, meaning that right when Boozer goes to the bench, Deke comes in and protects the paint..

Hayes starting on Boozer is our best bet.. while Hayes can't defend the paint from cutters/slashers, he can do a great job on Boozer and get a body on him to limit offensive rebounds.. then, rotate Landry & Hayes on Boozer until they wear him out..

    any thoughts?

I think Deke needs more minutes. I thought he did a good job covering Boozer. Hayes is not effective against Boozer. Boozer is the one player that can match up with Hayes pound for pound. Then there is the rebounding factor - both play with high energy, but Boozer is taller and can jump higher. You are going to loose that battle everytime. Notice Chuck doesn't get his usual dose of boards against the Jazz.

I'll take what Deke did on Boozer any day. Also, it's not like Deke started and played 40 minutes. Scola, Landry, and Hayes are all getting significant minutes as well.

Hayes did a great job on Boozer and Okur last year. Problem was Yao caused the matchup problems defensively. I'd start Hayes and Scola and bring in Deke for some energy and elbows.

Considering Deke was the only big man capable of grabbing a board in the 1st half, uhh, I'd say we should definitely start him.

I thought he did a pretty decent job on Boozer.

Yes, this is why you are not a coach.

Dekes rebounding, shot blocking, defensive presence and shot altering ability are huge factors.

We need Deke in there for rebounding and blocking shots. Give Deke as many minutes as he can handle.

Because he is the only 7 footer we have. He may be 41 but he can still outrebound all the other guys we have on the team.

    Mutombo +3

The only starter with a positive +/-

To bad he is not young enough to play 40 minutes.

I would start Deke but bring in Landry early, let him guard Okur and put Scola on Boozer....

Mutombo was one of the few bright spots. The intensity he and Scola bring is vital. Especially on the road. If anything play Deke 32-35mpg, its the playoffs, he can handle it. We must control the offensive glass. Deke clogs the paint.

Yup, I'd like to see Landry get the initial minutes off the bench over Hayes.

Taking Deke out after that monster block was a momentum killer.

Deke played a great game. I only wish he could play more minutes.

Yes and he knew it. That is why he was waving off Adelman's substitution (Chuck for Deke).

I'm not usually a fan of this stat but Deke was the only Rocket starter who had a positive +/- (+3).

The Rockets looked best when Deke was on the floor. Not only did he protect the rim but he was also rebounding.
