Have you ever had a sense of deja vu so strong that it makes you question the time space continuum? I could swear that I just went through the same sequence of events last night in a dream that I did tonight. It was so similar that it really bothered me and made me question this.
My thing is, and I've talked to others who've had the same experience, whenever I get a real sense of deja vu, it feels as though the previous time I felt the same thing...In other words, it feels like the latest in a series of echoes rather than just having been here once before...Does that make any sense?
It still doesn't explain the recollection from a dream the previous night, more so just that aqward immediate sensation that quickly retreats. What I am question is the remembrance? of a sequence of moments. Even to the extent that you seem to remember what you are going to do next. I hate to equate it to this, but it is kind of like in the movie Donnie Darko, when he can see the impetous of peoples next motions.
yes, it does make sense, but tonight was something much different. And to make this more eerie, I am at home, completely sober watching a movie w/my son
Yeah, I have experienced this few times, I think, but not usually close together in time, like the next day. I basically experience it like it was already explained here: a sequence of events would seem familar to me and I seem to know what is going to happend next. I wish it was useful though. Like helping me know the lotto numbers or something.
I have moments where it's not like it's from a dream...it's just like I've been in that same place with that same thing hapenning. It happens a lot.
That happens to me once or twice a month. I'll just be sitting at work and I'll get this weird feeling like I've experienced this exact moment before. Weird. I hardly ever remember my dreams, but every once in a while, I'll have a dream that comes close to coming true within the next few days. Usually something mundane but very strange nonetheless. There's a lot we don't know about how the brain works.
Any of you guys ever have double deja vu? This is where you experience the original deja vu, then years later, once you've forgotten about it, you do the same activity again and, of course you get the feeling you've done it/been there before. But what you're remembering isn't the previous time you did it, but the original memory that caused the first deja vu? Crap, I can't explain it in words. It just doesn't come out right. It's some weird sh*t, though.
This is easily explained through your basic college Anatomy/Physiology class. Deja Vu happens 9 times out of 10 when you're tired or stressed & exhausted over a period of several days. The physiological explanation is that since your brain is two-sided, as in right and left lobes, and since your eyes and ears are independently controlled and/or send and recieve information independent of each other by each lobe respectively... When both eyes see (and ears hear) the same information, sometimes when fatigued, one lobe of your brain processes the information a nano-second faster than the more fatigued side... thus creating the totally natural illusion that you've seen/heard the same thing before. The trippy part of this explanation is that, you actually have seen/heard it before... at least on one side before the other side registered the experience. "Oh man, homey... my mind is playin' tricks on me."
Wow... I've had the same "Dream Deja Vu" that some of y'all have talked about... I've described it to my mom and girlfriend before but they both thought I was crazy... But yeah, I'll like dream a sequence of events... it'll be like a first person perspective, and I'll look in specific directions, someone will say something in particular, or I'll make certain motions. Then, usually a little while later, like a week, I'll see the EXACT same thing. I usually even realize in the middle of it that it is exactly like my dream... but it'll keep happening, even if I like try and do something diiferent... It also used to happen pretty regularly, like once every few weeks, when I was 13 or 14, but now that I am 19 it seems to happen less often, its been a few months now... Okay... ::gets up off the Shrink couch::
