I gotta take defensive driving for a speeding ticket and was wondering if anyone has done it online? Do you have to read a lot or is there a lot of videos? Are the tests hard? I don't want to waste a Saturday and go to a class, so it was either online or the videos.
bunch of videos. There is a certain pattern to the questioning also. I forogt what it was, like every video they show, a question will be asked immediately following that video so pay attention.
It's simple. Take it online. If you can't finish it in one sitting you have like a month or so to complete it I think. ...not that I'd know or anything.
Time Warner offers it on I-Control now too. http://www.timewarnercable.com/houston/defensivedriving.html
Thanks for the info! Any sites in particular? There are a couple I found that's only $25 and they all claim to be the best defensive driving course online.
i took it online. it's a little more expensive ($40 compared to $25), but man, it was worth every penny. yeah, you watch videos or read and then you answer questions. you have to be there for 6 hours, but you can break it up. i did mine while IMing and surfing the web, so it was no pain.
I've used defensivedriving.com in the past. I'd recommend it. They gave me 30 days to complete the course, and as long as you pay minimal attention to the videos it's a breeze. Much better than spending half the weekend in a boring class.
Online is the way to go. It costs more, but nothing beats taking the course in your own home, libations in hand.
That's what I took. Online is the way to go cause you can start/stop as much as you want until you finish. But yea, pay attention to not only the videos but other stuff too. They ask you stupid questions like how many Americans got charged for DUI in 1994 which was briefly mentioned in some random part of the course. Nothing to do with safety ...just tricks to be sure you actually payed attention and didn't just guess on the multiple choice questions.
I just finished an online defensive driving class last week. The class I took was broken up into 10 modules and you could finish each one whenever you wanted. You'd open up a module and it would just be an html page full of text and pics. At the end of each module you'd have a 2 question quiz and then a 40 question quiz at the very end. Each module was timed to a pre-set limit and you couldn't take the quiz until the timmer had reached zero. Here's what I did: Open up webpage. Copy/Paste webpage. Go about your business. When the quiz comes up, find a keyword in the question and use the "find" command on your copy/pasted html page. Answer question. Rinse, repeat for each module and the final quiz.
I have to take one for my mom soon. What site did you go to? The defensivedriving.com one was mainly streaming videos and the questions were at the end of the video so you couldn't do a text find. And the timer would stop if you switched to a different window on your computer. Meaning it had to be the focus of the mouse for the timer to countdown. Sucked.
I did mine (bout 6 mnths ago) at I Drive Safely.. http://www.texas-defensivedriving-online.com/ State approved, only 25 bucks, and really easy. There's some videos but mostly just reading. The only thing that sucked though is you have a minimum time limit you have to spend on each page. If I could I woulda skimmed through the whole damn thing and still aced the final exam. But online is definitely the way to go.
i did the exact same thing Franchise3 did, copy/paste, etc... i also did it through defensivedriving.com. Did it in a bout 3 days, all at work and was pretty simple to do.
sorry to bring up an old thread and didn't think it's worth starting a new one. just one question: how long does it take for them to send you the certificate? i have to take a class before July 30th.
You can have rush delivery even overnight. I did that with mine once. Remember though that you have to order a copy of your driving record from the state, which can take a week or so.
