The Rockets are on offense. Dream is in the post, battling for position. He's planted right in front of the lane. His defender is behind him. Dream stands there for 3 seconds. Is that a defensive 3 second violation? If so, that rule is pretty freakin' lame.

If the defender is within an arm's length of the offensive player, then it's not defensive 3 seconds.

Is that ANY offensive player or HIS offensive player?

I mean can two defenders guard one man in the lane?

If zones are allowed, I would think all 5 guys could guard 1 man if they wanted as long as they don't camp in the paint for the 3 seconds.

How about I make this even funnier :

Offensive man is in the paint for 3 seconds.
Defensive man is in the paint for 3 seconds guarding offensive man.

Who gets called for the violation?

My hunch says the offensive guy... but that's a wild guess with no reasoning to speak of.

It's the offensive dude that gets the 3 second call...

Sooooo, does the defensive player have to have his arms out in the direction of the player he is guarding to negate a def. 3 sec. call?

I am going to love this addition to the rule book. Should make for some laughable officiating. Haven't we suffered enough at the hands of the Foot Locker employees???

"But ref...my arms are longer than they look, I swear!"

Neither. NBA refs can not count to 3.

Seriously if NBA refs only call 3 second violations on rookies during a full moon, are they really going to start calling these new violations?

You juggle the ball across the lane.
