Dee is not happy with his situation in Orlando - apparently they'll bring him to camp but are not thinking of offering him a contract. Brown shoots the 3 very well and is a capable back-up at either guard spot and not a poor defender, however it seems that he's been slightly forgotten about and is not receiving much demand for his services - I would think that he'd be a fit as a backup/ 3rd stringer at the guard spot(s). I think he made $548K last season - shouldn't be too difficult to woo him?
DeeBrown is a pretty good player, but has played in only 7 games last season and has had injuries over the last year or so.
Troy Hudson is a waste of a good non-guaranteed contract to someone who could actually make an imapct. I'm sorry, but after watching him for the past year here in Orlando, he cannot run a team. His game is more suited for the SG spot, but he's horrible at that too. Dee Brown is much better. His injury this past year was his first major injury in a good while and after he was healthy, he provided a spark off the bench for the Magic, something Hudson could not do. If the Magic don't bring back both Hudson and Brown, the Rockets - if and only if they want another guard - should go after Dee. But I have a feeling he'll be back in Orlando next year, this is just smoke and mirrors. After all, his home is in Orlando and Doc Rivers likes his game.
Whenever discussions of Dee Brown come up I always remember what Bird said about him. He said Brown never worked hard, and that when he was a Celtic (brown) that he (bird) consistently tried to get the team to ship him out since he was never going to get better (because of his poor work habits). The fact that Brown has been a journeyman seems to prove him correct. Not sure that is the type of player we'd want on our team.
