Garnett .Immaturity? No,he is idiot.I still remenber that scene: Garnett VS Nash £¬ Bball Rascal VS Bball player¡£
Please. If Amare has "done better", why did he average fewer points, rebounds, and blocks on a lower shooting percentage in December? If he's more consistent, why did he have a game of 2 points and 2 rebounds (26 minutes) and 4 points and 7 rebounds (29 minutes)? Yao didn't have any game close to that bad.
"John (Pho): How great will Amare have to play in order to unseat Yao as ROY? I think he will have to have better stats across the board. Marc Stein: Amare has been amazing, but you're right. He's going to have to be great. At least with this voter, Yao is going to be tough to top because of everything he's dealing with (culturally, scrutiny-wise, etc.) on top of the actual playing. Much like LeBron James, none of the hoopla seems to affect Yao." http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=2946 Don't worry. Yao Ming at least has one vote.
Yao is ROM December, no doubt. Amare is the prime candidate for ROM January 2003. As for ROY, I think Yao will get it, even though Amare is better. Why? Politics. Yao is an experimental human being for NBA global marketing.
Again, how is Amare better since he averages fewer minutes, points, rebounds, blocks, and a lower shooting percentage?
EXACTLY. you&me, slinslin...you cannot parallel Amare directly to the Suns' wins. Marbury, Hardaway, and Marion have been the biggest reason for the suns recent surge. They broke a 5-game win streak as Stoud nets 38.
I think I would be suprised if Lebron did as good as Amare coming out of highschool. Im not sure anyone out of highschool has ever done this well. Maybe Moses Malone, but that was long time ago. And he has definatly done better then the recent ones. By the way Yao still deserves award.
That's ridiculous. You didn't see the game , that's obivous. Suns were on back to back road games. Amare played a lot of minutes against Cleveland. Suns missed 22-35 FTs. They were down by 18 at halftime but within 5 in crunch time. Marbury had his worst game of the season with 0 points and 0 assists in the first half. Penny was horrible and Shawn Marion was horrible in the first half. Amare carried the whole team and he did it against an all defensive first team defender in KG.
The ROM belongs to Yao, but there is no denying Stoudamire is a stud. As far as rookie of the year honor, who cares. It would be nice if he wins, but it's not that important. I just want to see him develop and get better for next year.
Since when is this a reason for a person to be admired? FYI, Ming had a stretch of 8-9 days where he played in 5 games. The following are his points, rebs, and blocked shots stats for those 5 games. 17 pts, 15, rebs, 4 blocks, 35 mins 18 pts, 15 rebs, 0 blocks, 36 mins 16 pts, 9 rebs, 3 blocks, 36 mins 15 pts, 12 rebs, 5 blocks, 41 mins 29 pts, 10 rebs, 6 blocks, 38 mins Amare's a stud, but as of now he's not as consistent nor as good a player as Yao. By the end of the season he may be, but don't give me that crap about him being great because he had one great game.
I am not literally saying Amare is better than Yao right now. I am saying that if Amare later turns out to be a better ROY candidate than Yao (i.e. if Amare keeps improving in each game and Yao keeps the same output as in Hornets game), I think Yao would still get the ROY.
Oh... Stephon Marbury trash talking. Our Yao better mark the next Suns game in the calander. "This kid is so far gone," Marbury said of his teammate. "You talk about (Houston rookie) Yao Ming. I wouldn't take Yao Ming over that kid ever, 7-6 or not. It's not even close." http://www.nba.com/games/20021230/PHOMIN/recap.html
It's way too early in the season to tell who should be rookie of year!! Give YAO some time, he will develop
It¡¯s not even close£¡^_^ I wouldn¡®t take Marbury over Garnett ever, cross-over or not. It's not even close.
Indeed. Yao better saves all of his energy to teach something to those people. When's the next Rockets-Suns game?
That's why Stephon's been a never-been no matter where he's been. With that big ol' milk dud noggin' of his, you'd think he'd understand what it takes to win, but with all his talent, he's still a "what if" or "what could be".
Marbury wouldn't, but i guarantee you the team would. Yao could easily dominate his position in a few years. You can't really say that about Stoudamire. I will not hesitate to say that most teams would take Yao over most of the rookies this year. He's got the size, the skills, and the smarts. Strength and NBA experience are his only weaknesses, but that will change next year. Stoudamire looks great too, but he's got alot more competition at his position. Marbury is just giving the kid some confidence, but deep down he knows the TRUTH.
