Boston @ Washington Denver @ Detroit Orlando @ Utah Celtics up 53-42 right now in the 2nd. How many times is Arenas going to pull up for a quick missed J instead of setting up the offense?
Arenas doesn't know his role in Flip's system a quarter of the way into the season. He looks very confused and he's clanking free throws. I hope he can get it together.
Arenas with the choke..2 fts to tie the game..how many possible gamewinning layups has he also choked this season?
what has ewing taught him? it's his 5th or 6th year now? i don't see much improvement in offensive skills. even haywood has showed more progress than howard.
The thing is that he ALWAYS does it. I guess its hard to see their feet when surrounded by a bunch of 6'10 and up guys. Still, it can't be too hard to remember not to shuffle your feet before you go up.
The Wizards have plenty of talent but seem to lack the brains and chemistry to utilize that talent. Butler, Jamison, Arenas, Miller, Haywood, Blatche, Foye, McGee, Young, Stevenson... That's plenty of talent to work with... a lot more than most teams in the league. I have to wonder if Flip is part of the problem. There is no excuse for so much stupidity and poor play. Horrible shot selection (or playcalling by the coach), lack of awareness of game situations (or the coach not communicating effectively), selfish play, defensive breakdowns, etc... Arenas and Jamison took a couple of horrible shots late in the game. They didn't even make the Celtics' defense work. Did Flip draw up those awful plays? And WTF was Foye doing after getting that rebound? He seemed to have no clue how much time was on the clock. Is Flip not getting through to his players? I know the players are ultimately responsible for what happens on the court but coaches need to do draw up plays at times. They need to do things to foster chemistry. They need to help keep the players' heads in the game. Is Flip doing these things effectively?
