Apparently, that did not stop 15 or so threads complaining about the coach after a particular loss. BTW, judging by the ratings for your JVG hate thread and all the others like it, your "venting" is taking up a disproportionate amount of time and space on this board. Maybe I am also being "silly," but I hate the fact that the entire front page of the BBS is polluted with this stuff just because you and your ilk are more outspoken and over-the-top than others. I agree that you have a right to express your opinion, but the quantity of your posts about this subject is borderline browbeating.
Spectacular post. Thank you! I especially like the below quote. I'm as die-hard with the Rockets as they come, but even I was expecting bad things against the Suns without our stars. It was a really good game, and the Rockets led for a good duration. I was pleasantly surprised, and I was loving it, especially the play of Rafer! I just can't wait until both guys are back - it's gonna be SO scary for everyone else.
Fair enough and I do understand the point you and others are making...some eloquently, like yourself, others....with a hammer...like Batman ! Which is why I started a new thread which should promote conversation away from this topic. DD
i have to add to this wonderful thread. not really much to say since most have already stated exactly how i feel. love it!
Easier said then done Dak. You and your cousins jump into EVERY THREAD with it. EVERY THREAD, you make the same posts. EVERY THREAD Jesus h jumpin christ Dakota how the hell are we supposed to avoid it? If I put on ignore everyone that is guilty of this, half the pages would have that "This User is On Your Ignore List" messages all up adn down the page. Ill make a deal, change the record and keep your rants ontopic, and Ill quit whining about yall. K?
I have been on this board long enough to know that. Unfortunately people don't STICK to the game thread and want to make new ones talking about the same thing in the game thread.
That's wishful thinking on your part. "I think Jeff is a championship-caliber coach," Alexander said. "He's a very good coach, obviously. Not just Jeff, everybody has to prove themselves. We'll address that at the end of the season." So how do you come to the conclusion that Les not offering a new contract to JVG means that he has become a bit tired of JVG if it was agreed before the season by both that a contract extension would not be visited until the season is over? Could it be your bias? You inquire about Words of Encouragement ... You think Alexander is not encouraged with how the team has played through all the injuries? Alexander has JVG's back otherwise we would have an interim coach right now. Alexander doesn't need to make anything public.
I think right now the board is divided on JVG..... I don't think anyone doubts that the Rockets play with passion and hard every night. I appreciate that JVG has them playing well.....I just question whether JVG's methodology will take us all the way. Is he Phil Jackson, or is he Doug Collins? DD
I think that if Les truly believed in JVG that he would have locked him up to an extension already, why expose your coach to other suitors? And, Les asked JVG to tone down the negativity in the press this year, and JVG has openly mocked that, which I am fairly certain that Les is not too fond of.......would you be? That being said, I am on record as saying that if JVG continues to get the team to play hard, and they do well in the playoffs, that he would earn himself an extension. Does that mean I have to like him? Well, if he gets the Rockets to the promised land, I will be more than happy to admit I am wrong about him. How is that? DD
I would agree with you on that. In fact I called for his head a few years ago myself. He has changed his style though, there is no doubt about that. There is an obvious difference from his first year and now. The question we need to answer is, if you don't like JVG, is there currently a coach right now that would be a better fit?
Well, if there's anyone that sounds like a broken record ... I swear if I see DD post that tired and incredibly stupid "he's wearing his players out" argument again I'm gonna blow up something. Let me tell you something DD - of all the posters on this BBS, you're probably the least credible. There are people who are well known haters/whiners (like Zboy for example), but at least they manage to stick to a single argument for more than a week. You, on the other hand ... you're more hormonal than than a divorced housewife with PMS. It's amusing most of the time, but right now frankly it is really irritating. DD: I dare you, right now, to show me proof that Jeff Van Gundy is playing his starters abnormally large minutes. I want to see the numbers, right now. If you can't put up, shut up. Show me the statistical evidence that T-Mac is playing too many minutes. Or Rafer Alston. Or Luther Head. I want to see the comparison with other teams in the league. Show me some numbers right now, dammit. If you have nothing, please shut up.
JeopardE, I am sorry you find my posts offensive to your sensitive nature, and the broken record bit was because someone else told me I sounded like one...thus the humor........in me saying it back. I go by what I see on the court, and in every game.... If you are looking for stats, that is fine, but the problem is that stats can be read any number of ways, which can lead to circular arguments. Personally, my opinion is that JVG plays TMac too much, and that he is going to hurt the team's playoff chances in the end because of it. I am trying to shy away from this argument as people have expressed nicely (not you of course) that they are tired of it, so I respect an honest discourse. I do not get bothered by flames, or childish name calling like you, Batman, and Sam Fisher are prone to do when others don't agree with you. Do yourself a favor before you bust a corpusle, just ignore the threads you don't like.....don't worry be happy ! DD
I'll make no bones about it - I don't like Gumby and probably never will even if he leads the Rockets to a title. I do agree that it is absolutely asinine to go ballistic over the Rockets losing 2 games to the 2 best teams in the league when key cogs are missing (especially in the Suns game). Just be glad that they kept the games competitive. But I learned a long time ago that posting OVER and OVER my opinion of Gumby is not going to accomplish anything, so I rarely post in this forum anymore.
Fair enough Manny....I guess my bloody forehead needs a few more 2x4s before I give up the ghost ! DD
Props to the first and second post of this thread and to the person saying batman technically isn't the right character, you need to lighten up, much like many of the posters here after a loss wanting to trade Rafer and fire JVG
Ahhh, of course. You have no substance behind your argument, so you'll make up an excuse. Like I said, put up or shut up. You mention Tracy McGrady. Incidentally T-Mac is playing the fewest minutes per game of his career since he left Toronto, at 35.9. By comparison, Kobe plays 38.9 minutes, D. Wade plays 38.6, Lebron James 40.6, Paul Pierce 38.4, Dirk Nowitzki 36.3. Show me something, DD. Otherwise, you have no credibility.
