Dreamshake09, Come on, you can not seriously think that tonight Rick Adelman did a good job? I mean the NBA did not do the Rox any favors with the China trip then these back to backs to open up the season. But when a player is as hot as Ellis is, and our guys were in his face on most of his shots, you have to switch it up some. If JVG was announcing this game, I can hear him saying "Why aren't the Rockets forcing someone else to beat them?" I mean that is coaching 101, sometimes coaches screw up too. Tonight was one of those nights.....Rick Adelman and Staff screwed the pooch. DD
Defensive-minded, in this case, must mean still in his mind and he's not sharing it with anyone else.
These were my exact thoughts for the whole game. I do not understand why Hill hasn't played a single minute, especially tonight where GS would drive to the basket uncontested time after time.
What's knee jerk about it? RA's rotation stupidity has been noticed ever since he first arrived. Coaches should do more than just install a system and then let the players figure it out. Other coaches like Pops or PJ also use systems but they alter their rotation to take advantage of the situation at hand. We've been getting outcoached these past two games, you think Shannon Brown and Blake were at the right place at the right time just by coincidence? The mere fact that Jordan Hill and Patrick Patterson hadn't seen any PT for the past two games itself is a big mistake. LOL how can anyone try to defend the fact that Hayes and JJ are getting significant PT but our two promising big men can't even sniff the court? Maybe if his "win now" mentality is actually producing some wins instead of two losses he would have a point.
I st don't get it! You got 2 young big men on the bench, who can shoot, rebound and block shots, and you won't play them. Way to go coach!!
Well then how are you going to win in a stacked conference if your coach doesn't adjust his gameplan? No matter how good your lineup is if the coach doesn't know how to adjust to counters the other team made you're gonna get owned.
BTW - not deviating from a game plan and not making adjustments is EXACTLY why JVG was fired. Rick, you listening? DD
It seems to me that the last few years, coach Adelman has been in decline. He seems to be getting worse. I think we need a younger, more fiery coach, that's more in-tune with the players. Sometimes it seems as if Adelman is in his own little world out there, just staring.
Have you noticed the roster has changed dramatically since he's been here? That might account for something.
You generally don't want to double guys on the perimeter, and the Rockets don't really have the right personnel to do that well anyways. Maybe if they had Ariza -- a guy with good length who can cover distances really well -- it would be a better strategy.
Normally I'd agree with this, but seriously it wasn't just all Ellis. He was crazy, sure, but the entire GSW team was on fire. Doubling him would have just made our defense look extra anemic and their shooters extra potent. "I mean, I don't know how I can say this with a straight face, but I thought, most of the time, [we] defended him pretty well."
If this was Kobe or Lebron going off like that everyone would be like, "oh theres nothing u can do about it" but since its an up and comer having the game of his life, we somehow are suppose to stop it... ya we bring JVG and when we cant score over 70points, what then?
