Anyone watching this new series from HBO. I have been following it and I am surprised that I like it so much. I have never been into Westerns that much. Anyway, what are your thoughts for those who have seen it? I think the character developement is excellent. That's par for the course for an HBO series. The scenery is also pretty good. It really seems like a town in the Old West would look like. I don't know about the writing, I'm not sure if the language is authentic for the time period. Especially some of the foul language.
I watched a little bit of it, and found myself thinking the exact same thing. Did they use the 'F' word back then? Apparently, they did their research and swear that they did use those words in that era. Anyway, I turned it off after about 15 minutes -- it didn't appeal to me. The last two HBO shows have not been good, IMO. As much as I tried, I just couldn't get into Carnivale, either.
The violence is pretty grisley but I'm watching it because of the intrigue building in the plot lines. Wished they'd have gotten some purtier hores though. "Mister, the best bath and blowjob you've ever had had are just up at the top of those stairs"
I've never heard c***sucker used so freely. And it's the town heavy who's cussing the most. I'm crossing my fingers hoping that Calamity Jane gets it real soon.
I like it so far though my first thought was like some of you whether or not the language was appropriate for the times. Also in the credits they show a side shot of a woman getting into a tub with some of the biggest fakies I have ever seen, I quite sure they didn't have those back then. Wonder how long before Hickcock(sp) gets it in the back of the head, that is if history holds true. Pretty good overall, I;m certainly enjoying it more than HBO's other attempts to follow Sopranos with shows like Carnivale or Six Feet Deep which IMO were just weird for the sake of being weird. Aces and eights, the dead man's hand
I'm a big fan of the Sopranos, and my buddies and I have watched the first two episodes of Deadwood and we're officially hooked. I was just worried that they wouldn't be able to keep up the body count. But according to the director, the real Deadwood averaged over a murder a day. Woohoo!!!
Uhmmmm.....okay. I'm hooked...... .....or I was...... ......did the most electric character in the whole show get offed tonight?
If you don't mind reading about the electric character who was seemingly offed tonite and the aftermath so you know what happens, then follow this link. Otherwise, steer clear. By the way, the way "it" went down is true. Surf
That was a lousy way to go. That's like getting rid of Doc Holliday and leaving us with just Wyatt Earp.
I think they are just trying to be true to history. I was surprised though that they didn't show Wild Bill's hand of aces and eights.
I haven't missed an episode yet, it's the best thing I've seen in a long time. I wasn't happy with the outcome of the latest episode, but it was very easy to see it coming.
The show keeps geting stronger with every episode. Anyone else think that Montana looks just like Johnny Ringo from Tombstone?
