The Rox' only deadline deals in 10 years were sending Rhodes and Brooks away? I couldn't remember any others because there weren't (Kenny Smith even stayed causing the trade deadline to move up several hours).

What about the nixed Horry/Bullard trade for Sean Elliot in 1994?

Didn't get through, then Horry helped as NY was nixed in 7.

I don't know why people thought the Rockets would make a deal at the deadline...There will be BIG changes to this team during the Summer, count on it...

Trade deadline is always a lot of fun. But, there is one facet of it I hate. With time, rumors of trades that didn't go down seem to solidify into legitimacy. A year from now, posters will be reminding us that we could have traded Mobley & Taylor for Ray Allen and Griffin & Cato for Abdur-Rahim and if the management hadn't been so stupid we'd be competing for championships. Nevermind that right now these rumors are not substantiated in any meaningful way and, even if they were legit, still do not give a complete picture of what the trade would include.

Free agency has the same problem. Ya'll remember how we could have signed Antonio McDyess but decided to pursue Scottie Pippen instead? ;)

I agree, the Rox won't do anything with chemistry...yet...

A deal in the summer won't help us make the playoffs this season.

I'd gladly trade a first round exit this year for a legitimate playoff run next year.

I agree, however, smart trades should be contemplated whether it's the summer or right before the deadlines. Suppose we trade for Brand, we'd both have a legitimate run next year (after improving the team further in the summer) as well as having a play try (not run) this year.

Do you actually think the Rockets could get Brand, or is this a hypothetical situation?
