Anybody watching this? Say what you want about NASCAR, but watching the Daytona 500 in HD is pretty f'ing sweet. This is the most watched auto race in the world - over 200,000 people in attendance and more than 30+ million watching on tv. It's the Super Bowl of NASCAR. Favorites to win this year are Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart
I'm a casual NASCAR fan. My friends don't get why it's so exciting watching cars race around a circle. I tell them it's the little things, the races inside the race. Once you start watching you realize it's more than just cars going round and round. Hope Dale Jr. turns it around this season.
I only watch this and the Indy 500, though for a while I stopped when all the best drivers had left to race for CART.
I'm a big fan of NASCAR, I watch every race. Don't know who to root for now that Rusty Wallace retired, but I'm sure I'll find someone to cheer.
Sorry to break the news, but the Daytona 500 wouldnt even come close to the number of people who watch a Formula One race on any given round of that Championship season.
Yep. F1 is a worldwide series, NASCAR is 90+% American viewership. No need to be exclusive to one, though. I enjoy F1 from time to time.
I sometimes drive really fast in my car too, but then I'm usually drunk while I'm doing it. And on fire.
Jimmie Johnson takes it in a pretty dramatic green-white checkered flag ending where they restarted with only two laps to go. Dale Jr tried to make a move but wasn't able to and ended up farther back. Good stuff
I've watched Daytona for the last couple years. It's usually the only Nascar race I'll watch all year, but it is pretty exciting. First time seeing it in HD, looked amazing.
Yeah that whole episode was pretty childish. Kenseth got shafted bad by Stewart. Stewart claimed that it was payback from a brush in lap 20.
I heard them saying that Johnson's crew chief (Chad Hendrick?) had to leave before the race....what happened?
Chad Knaus got booted earlier in the week after officials discovered a blatantly illegal part during inspection.
I probably would enjoy me some f1, if they ever showed the damn thing on tv, and if i knew who was driving. I'll watch NASCAR perhaps, when it stops becoming NeckCar. There's still some good ol' boys, southern element to it.
