They gave up Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom why in the world would Stern need to stop the Lakers from making a trade.

Should the Lakers be banned from trade discussions?

ESPN just brought this up. Last year when the league bought NO, Phil Jackson was quoted saying who was going to step in and approve trades if and when Paul wanted out of NO. and the pau gasol trade to LA was different - the league didn't own Memphis.

Apparently Larry Ellison offered $50 million more than the NBA paid to bye out the team. Stern didn't want to sell to him because he was going to move the team to San Jose.

    Hornets got the best deal.
CP3 + Kobe is not going to be that great.

That makes more sense because this LA trade was a fair deal. The lakers gave up a lot and the hornets made out like bandits. People praising stern around here are just jealous of the lakers and nothing more. If dwight was going there too then it now makes more sense to me.

Not if Dictator Stern vetoes that too.

wow, so they stopped the trade thinking that. all they're gonna do is sign as FA with the lake show in off season. Don't really give a sh**t about the lakers but haha feel for them a little bit. Miami is probably laughing at them as we speak.

The lake show is wayyy over the cap they have to do a trade. The pacers could sign both and become a superteam.

If CP3 and Howard play through the string and become UFAs next summer, nobody will have a problem with that. The issue is players forcing their current team to trade them where they want to go.

They aren't forcing anything. Chris Paul is in essence giving the hornets a hint that he may not re-sign with the them by not signing an extension now. Sure he says what teams he'd like to go to but that doesn't prevent the Hornets from sending him wherever the hell they want.

If anything Melo and now Chris Paul are doing these teams a huge favor by giving them the opportunity to trade them and get something in return instead of losing them in free agency for nothing like what happened to the Cavs and Raptors.

Stern put himself in this position to fail when he decided the league would own NO. Now with this trade voide, he is screwed any way you look at it and the league really took a hit credibility wise.

Ya but unless they got Howard they would be awful this season. Their advantage was size. Bynum would miss half the season due to injuries.. Then who do they play?

The trade was **** for NO they dont get a an elite potential young player (I.e. Curry or Westbrook Or E Gordon) or a lottery pick instead they get 3 vets, 2 of them play horrible defense and 2 have horrible handicapping contract.

Clippers offers is gonna be much better don't know how much the clippers can trust that Paul would sign an extension, I Love CP3 but he has a b****'s persona
