Word out today is the Spurs want to decrease Robinsons pay drastically next season.

Would you want Robinson in a Rockets uni ??

You know, he'd actually be a great pick-up. Too bad he won't leave the Spurs [IMG]. Still, he'd be Webber bait.

You know, a team with Robinson, Webber, Francis, Mobley, + skanky SF would actually be pretty dang good.

I would take him over Cato any day. We might only get 1 or 2 years out of him but, that's more than we will ever get out of Cato.

If we can't sign Hakeem for what he wants, can we sign Robinson? What is Robinson's salary?

If Robinson left, I'm sure it would irritate Duncan to no end.

A year ago, I would have said that there is no way that Robinson would leave the Spurs.... but now with Ewing gone from the Knicks, and Dream possibly shipping himself elswhere...my delicate sensibilities have been awakened to the fact that, damnit, things just don't work out anymore. [IMG]

    dave's going no where.

the reason tim came back was because dave was in sa (although tim's contract should be up after next season).

if it were my job in san antonio, though, here's what i'd do...

    1) let avery go - free agent
    2) let david go - free agent
    3) let sean go - free agent
    4) move antonio daniels to sg if you lose derek anderson while signing others
    5) move tim d to center

    6) go strong after webber
    7) draft a pg and run with d-dial & drafted pg

this, of course, will never happen, since dave & avery are mrs. & mr. san antonio, respectively.

I was hoping that Tim went to Orlando last year because that would have been one less team we would have to worry about.

So would we. How do you propose we pay Hakeem the money he wants?

tariq: Just curious, but why do you compare Cato to Robinson? Last I checked, Cato never averaged 29.8 points a game...

Robinson's a nice guy who got schooled by Hakeem in '95, but that doesn't make him anything like Cato.

I always hated the way people compared him to Hakeem, but he's equally above Cato [IMG].

    haven,

David Robinson may have been a *good* center, but ever since Tim Duncan came over, Robinson has just been little more than body impersonating as a Center.

I watched the last two games between the Lakers and Spurs and Robinson was horrendous!! I have also watched the Spurs these playoffs and he has done little to impress anyone that he had done better in the past!

By Peter Holt saying that Robinson will require a substantial cut in salary, I dont think that is saying he would be available for dirt cheap. The guy is making 13.2 mil, and Holt probably would want to cut that in half or so.

We have successfully gone from wanting Arvydas Sabonis to David Robinson on our team next year. What next? Ralph Sampson making a comeback?
That might not be a bad idea....even without his knees Ralph would be an upgrade from Cato.
